The Cov game was mainly down to our errors and not how they pressed us as well to be fair. I've not really seen a team look to press us in the way Liverpool have, the closest two are probably Southampton and Norwich and Hermansen went direct several times. I'm fully onboard this style of play, my only disagreement is that there's only one way to play when the keeper has the ball. The ultimate goal of this style is to entice their players up the pitch and look to get in behind right? If they have 6 or 7 players in your half, you go over those players and you've done what you wanted to whilst not taking the risk of giving the opposition a free shot on goal. If they're not properly set or you see a weakness in their press, then go short and suck them in. Hermansen seems to be getting better at figuring this out. Winks and Hermansen are two absolutely massive parts of the system. I still feel if that team played last night and Blackburn were to press us as Liverpool did then we would end up losing the ball to the pressure plenty of times.

If we played that same team in the Championship and the opposition backed themselves instead of sitting deep, they would likely be able to win the ball back just as often. The main difference would be that they wouldn't have the quality to consistently make use of winning it back so we would likely get the ball back. Remember we let Coventry run through us for fun and were probably fortunate not to ship 4 or 5 that game.

Stick one on him Hamza! Youve got 4 mins

Game over. I hate losing to these
-
Dicky P trying his hardest to pick up a red this half haha
-
Man I wish that had been Yunus bursting through 1 more chance still
-
Wish our world class DM would stop allowing their long range expert all the time in the world on the edge of our box Still feel there's another chance in this for us
-
3 or 4 times we've now had acres of space and ended up giving Liverpool a goal kick without even getting a cross in.
-
Liverpool famous for running and Casadei has looked incredibly slow both running and generally on the ball. It was always gonna be tough for him.
-
Aye it is. I just "liked" but realised that wasn't useful as an answer

There are times where it's totally unnecessary, Hermansen seemed to have found a pretty good balance between going long and coming deep. If the other team is pushing up so far that you're marked man for man then that means there's a tonne of space to take advantage of, for me the intelligent play is adapting to the specific scenario rather than sticking to one idea. If you've got a man free then play it out, if everyone is marked tightly that means you can whack it and give one of your players a 50/50 battle to be in the oppositions half with a lot of time on the ball.

We all are aren't we? Us in blue hope they don't but it feels inevitable haha
-
Definitely one of the stronger sides I've seen Liverpool put out in the cups. There's a lot of talent in that team. I really hope we can hold onto this. If it gets to 70 minutes and we're still leading I'm going to be so nervous haha. So if you're gonna screw us Liverpool/ref/both, then do it early!

Dont think people can blame talksport bigging up Liverpool, its basically been Liverpool doing everything but putting the ball in the net for 40 mins
-
Casadei will hopefully suit games where a team sits in. The lads slower than Maguire piggy backing Mark De Vries. Justin's been getting schooled by a lad with 3 senior appearances.

Missed first 10, just seen McAteers goal. He took that like a seasoned striker, lovely finish and great ball by Yunus
-
That Jones has always been a knob. Respect levels for Hamza will increase massively if he puts one on him
-
Wild few mins there. Liverpool must be fancying a few tonight based on the past 5 mins
-
To be fair if he agent is switched on he realises that Hamza has been earning well beyond his ability, so why not keep milking the golden teet that is Leicester City. Even on 30k a week he's earning far more than he should.
-
It almost sounds like you have also made your mind up
-
Not sure if this has been posted but interesting to see. Birmingham, Boro and Cov severely under-performing. Southampton about where they deserve to be based on performance is quite funny
-
Ah yeah fair point on that one man.
-
That was the idea this summer but Watford didn't rate him enough to fork out the fee. There must something in the water in Leicestershire as reading this forum you'd be forgiven for wondering why Man City aren't looking to sign him as Rodri's back up.
-
Assuming we're going there with the idea of winning I could see it being like the second halves vs Norwich and Southampton. We look to sit in and let them have the ball, but when we do win the ball back and are able to do so, we'll spring forward at pace and look to hit them on the counter.

I think that team would get spanked mate (assuming we're trying to play the same way). Albrighton and Hamza will either hide from the ball or will lose posession or put our CBs under pressure. Either way they would not deal with Liverpool's pressing ability. Casadei would get ran over and be a by-stander. All 3 CBs not played. Personally if the plan is to line up anything like that then I think we may as well save everyone the time and money and just forfeit the tie
