I’ve mentioned him before, but I imagine someone in the championship (a Norwich perhaps) will get Jimmy Thelin and he’ll go on to do very well.

I’ve no issue with him as a championship footballer. I’ve a massive issue with him in our dressing room as a person. Alcohol is clearly a huge problem and maybe always will be? We’re going to have a young easily influenced dressing room. Look how well Harvey has done since removing himself from Hamza’s circle? He’s one of the many players we need to move on.

I'm often surprised by managers who have time out and don't go and improve/learn. I used to think Eddie Howe was a one trick pony, he spent his time out between Bournemouth and Newcastle learning how to set up a defence, now quite the contrast he strikes me as one of the most sensible managers around, tweaking styles to suit oppositions, and much much better defensively. If Martin comes back and doesn't at least look to implement some kind of "here's when you're allowed to clear your lines" strategy, at the very least, then he doesn't deserve more chances. I watched the Lineker interview too, there's moments of hope, but they're often contredicted minutes later. He sounds like really the only change he wants to make is to stick to 4-2-3-1, rather than 6 or 7 formations he used in the Champ and this season in the prem. So there wasn't enough hints at style of play, it was more him doubling down and saying he needs to stick to his guns.

What makes you think we interview? I’ve just listened back to Martins the rest is football interview. Talking about how detailed Jason Wilcox (now at Man Utd) was at saints, two interviews, several hours, told him what he wanted to present back on. There’s no a chance we’ve ever asked a manager to do that.
