So many teams in this league have crap players that they can’t shift… but they don’t give them token spaces on the bench, they shun them and give opportunities to young players. I looked at the squads in the Premier league tonight, every single 20 had at least one player from their U21’s on the bench…. Except us and Wolves. You’ve got the likes of Man City, Arsenal, Spurs, week in week out giving minutes to their academy graduates. Yes I know it’s easier when you’re top half. But personally I think there’s no excuse for us not giving two our three bench spots a match to young lads who could come on and have a spark at some point, much rather that than give it to people who don’t want to be here! Southampton, worst season in their history, the highlight? They unearthed Dibbling who is going to make them a fortune! Ruud gave me hope this might happen but it’s almost been more insulting talking up our prospects and not giving them a look in.
