  1. Love the LOROS idea, but does anybody actually know why we don't have a sponsor? Is there a reason or is it just more mismanagement?
  2. Well I disagree. The idea that we should wait until a player has "kicked a ball for us" before being allowed to have an opinion about the signing (unless of course it is positive) is ludicrous. It is perfectly reasonable to be excited or disappointed with any incoming based upon what you already know of a player's qualities and career to date. Such comments are all too often laced with hyperbole using words such as 'hate' or 'writing off' when all you are doing is expressing disappointment in an incoming transfer. Should we be universally positive about every signing regardless? Because we have a less than impressive hit rate in recent seasons and many of those duds you could see coming a mile off.
  3. Hate this kind of comment, Imagine having an opinion of a signing based upon what we have been able to find out from stats, previous club's fans and career to date. Wouldn't that be odd? Well, no. After all, that is presumably what the recruitment team have done. Look at it this way, when we signed Vestergaard for example, we knew he was a slow cumbersome lump in a Southampton shirt. Therefore, you could reasonably expect him to be a slow, cumbersome lump in a Leicester shirt. He's not going to miraculously turn into Kyle Walker is he?
  4. I could say the same about your 8/10 assessment. You seem to be easily pleased and I would bet that you have basked in the afterglow of terrible windows in the past before reality strikes. We have a great chance of going up, which would be the best way to balance books. I'm not saying this one was terrible just below average, given the funds brought in. We haven't been bold enough and we may well live to regret a missed opportunity.
  5. I bet you said the same this time last year. Particularly disappointed with the slow, one in four striker. We'll see.
  6. Yes, 4/10. Below average. You don't have to agree.
  7. The issue re recruitment has been overspending on rubbish and awarding ludicrous contracts for dross, not spending per se. Our original MO of buying potential with resale value was a model that we should never have deviated from.
  8. 4/10. Opportunity missed. Good fees for some outgoings such as McAteer and Justin. Some not so good such as Mads and BEK. I have to ask though, what is the aim for this season? I had assumed promotion and we have a good chance of making it and making all the accountants happy with the riches to be earned, we just needed to gamble a little and add some quality. I don't think we have done that with three loans including Feyenoord's reserve striker. With the millions that we have bought in, I would have liked to see us show some ambition. I would also like to see us show some imagination in the transfer market, try to unearth some gems and a return to the idea of buying young prospects on the way up. Kone would have hit that brief as would the Millwall guy. In summary, we have not done enough, we have been over cautious and we continue to be poorly run with questionable strategy/decisions.
  9. I think that a lot of people have become so distracted by psr that they become more concerned about turning a profit on the amortised amount that players owe and forget the net loss. If we get £5m for a player owing £4m amortised but he cost £20m in the first place it is not a win. I hate that being a football fan has become more about spreadsheets rather than football and I hate that I know what amortisation means.
  10. Would rather have had kone
  11. A highlight reel will only show the ones that went in. Does anybody actually know anything about him? Feeling underwhelmed.
  12. It'll never catch on.
  13. L I really wouldn't bother
  14. Intelligent people don't tend to write with such ignorant generalisations either. Or brag about wealth. Very gauche. Anyway, back on topic, that Wout Faes is a bit rubbish isn't he?
  15. Well 21/4 = 5.25 not 5.5, but otherwise...
  16. Would accept any offer to get rid of this lump.
  17. We don't have one day left. We have three years left on his contract.
  18. No. Woyo was just another recruitment aberration. We're not outraged about it because we have become desensitised to them and as far as transfer mistakes go, only wasting £1.5m almost seems like a win.
  19. I know it's reality, but I'm still having a hard time coming to terms with the fact that the likes of Palace and Fulham can take our best players. How can this be possible? I'm still working through denial. It might take some time to get to acceptance.
  20. Now there's something I never knew I never wanted to know.
  21. Surely promotion would be the best way to balance books. Languishing in the Championship with an (ostensibly) Premiership squad is not going to be good for our financial health.
  22. Jon 'the miracle worker' is only clearing up his own mess and after the damage has already been done unfortunately. He also has several more miracles to be getting on with. Good luck getting those signatures.
  23. This is one transfer I was really excited about and one that I dont blame the club for pursuing. On the face of it, it seemed a bit of a coup. He has been a monumental flop. More than anyone could have imagined.
  24. Yes. A team that managed 12 points. A team, literally not even half as good as our mob. And yet I am to believe that they have two £40m gems lurking in there? No. I not having it. Pants must have been pulled down somewhere. Southampton are at least good at something, it seems.
