https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/two-leicester-city-assets-provide-10376297 Two Leicester City assets provide 'incredible potential' to help Marti Cifuentes fulfil his aim The Leicester City manager has been looking to the future and has named the reasons he believe the club can sustain themselves in the Premier League once they get promoted ByJordan Blackwell 07:00, 27 JUL 2025 Leicester City’s training ground and academy production line give them “incredible potential” to sustain themselves at the top, believes manager Marti Cifuentes. The new boss knows promotion back to the Premier League is the main objective for City but he is aiming to get to the top flight in a way that can keep them there. And he's named two factors that can help his cause. The Spaniard believes the state-of-the-art headquarters at Seagrave can attract high-quality players, while also backed the club to produce their own through their academy, which is on a hot streak at the moment. “For me it’s very clear that this club has some areas where the potential is incredible,” Cifuentes told BBC Radio Leicester. “We have one of the best training grounds in the world and this is enough to attract very good players. At the same time, we have to make sure we really develop them and help them to be the very best version of themselves. “Then we have an academy that I’m so excited to start to work with. I really believe in the young talent. “I’m a big believer that having these possibilities is a very good way to sustain and to keep growing as a club.” With Jeremy Monga and Jake Evans permanently stepping up to the first team this season, and with Louis Page, Bade Aluko and Jayden Joseph also in contention, City’s squad will be full of homegrown talent. With Jakub Stolarczyk, Ben Nelson, Luke Thomas, Hamza Choudhury, Kasey McAteer and Will Alves to choose from too, it’s not out of the question that half of City’s matchday squad could be from their own academy. Cifuentes said: “It’s part of my way of understanding the game and my background as academy coach. I’m a big believer in young players, giving them the right platform to express themselves. “It’s never easy. The jump is really challenging here in England, especially at a club like Leicester, with big players, big demands, big expectations. But what I’ve seen so far is that we have an amazing potential. “I’m looking forward to working with them, and then in some moments they will receive my confidence. It’s up to them as well to show they belong here and that they have the right qualities. “For sure, what they’re going to get from me is the confidence to express themselves and to enjoy playing football, because that’s what it should be about.” -

ByJasmine Siddon 14:31, 26 JUL 2025 Visitors can enjoy daring BMX stunts, rickshaw rides, and live music on the day. (Image: Artur Widak / NurPhoto / Getty Images) L A free pop-up “mini festival” suitable for families is coming to Leicester this weekend. Open Streets is to be held in collaboration with this year’s Re/Action Festival, which celebrates creativity, and is designed to encourage people to explore the city by walking, wheeling, or cycling. Various activities will be taking place across multiple locations which can be explored by bike or on foot, including Town Hall Square, Clock Tower, and Gallowtree Gate. Attendees will be able to enjoy daring BMX stunts from sportsperson Danny Butler, as well as rickshaw rides, a group cycle through the city centre and live music from Leicester’s community samba band, Sambando. The free event, which has been organised by local arts and cultural charity Art Reach, will also see a bike workshop among the events. Paul Steele, the creative director at Art Reach, said: “All of us at Art Reach are really looking forward to working with Open Streets this year.” Water wars and maze coming to Leicestershire for Fantasy Farm event Free pop-up beach opens at Fosse Park Assistant city mayor Councillor Geoff Whittle added: “Open Streets is a fantastic series of mini-festivals and events that demonstrate how easy it is to get around our city by walking, wheeling or cycling. “It’s great to see organisers teaming up with the Re/Action Festival for this weekend’s event and I’m sure visitors will find lots of fun, free family-friendly activities to explore and enjoy on foot or by bike.” The free event takes place this Sunday (July 27) and runs from 1pm till 4pm. Re/Action festival will run in the city centre in areas such as Jubilee Square and Humberstone Gate, on Saturday, July 26, and also Sunday, from 11am till 5pm. A secure, free-to-use bike park will be located at Jubilee Square during the Re/Action Festival. For those who can’t make it this weekend, Open Streets will be taking place on the last Sunday of the month throughout the summer. More information can be found online.

Leicester Memories Stephen Butt · Charles Street in 1931. Could anyone suggest exactly where in Charles Street? Is this the junction with Humberstone Gate, looking towards the Haymarket Centre, with Belgrave Road in the distance? Charlotte Victoria Hubbard Northampton Square is on the Right. Where the policeman is is Rutland Street. The building on the left is now The Ale Wagon. -
Having watched Just Mercy if I was an African American the last place on earth I'd want to live is the American South how any white Caucasian could treat fellow humans with such contempt is beyond me. This was set in 1998 I just hope that things have improved but I doubt it. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001sxzv

One slow CB, one CB who doesn't have his heart in it, two slow DMs it's no wonder we get caught on the break. At one point they had 4 players counter attacking and in our PB we had one player and one just arriving both FBs.

Wow so much better and more professional even with the adverts you can still see the game going on. We’re so crap at this.
-
He doesn't look fit puffing and panting.
-
Not a very impressive performance I can’t see much intensity the quality is poor and Choudhury doesn’t even look fit. A bit pantomime like - where did you pass the ball? It’s behind you! Thought Alves was the best so far.
-
I wouldn't read too much into who's going or staying I'd guess at this stage he'll be doing tactical assessment of who can fit into his way of playing his various tactical formations plus ongoing fitness.
