https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/news/local-news/plans-revealed-mega-new-leicestershire-10356832 Plans revealed for mega new Leicestershire town with up to 4,250 homes Developers estimate around 10,000 people would live there By Hannah RichardsonLocal Democracy Reporter Plans for the long-discussed new Leicestershire town have now been officially submitted. Up to 4,250 new homes, three new schools, shops, hotels and sports facilities could be built over swathes of farmland next to Isley Walton, in North West Leicestershire. The Isley Woodhouse project has been on the cards for years, with North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC) having asked residents whether they would support the development during a local plan review in 2022. A local plan is a document which sets out where house building and other developments can take place in an area, and is intended to protect communities from speculative projects. Developers Harworth Group and Caesarea Development Holdings are now seeking formal permission to proceed with the scheme from NWLDC, with documents published online revealing more about their intentions for the site. If the development goes ahead, it could bring around 10,000 new residents to the area, the companies have said. In addition to the thousands of new homes, two primary schools would also be built on the farmland. These would each be two-form entry, and would have space to later expand if needed. A secondary school is also proposed for the mega developments. Two neighbourhood centres and a local centre would be built too, offering spaces for “local shops and services”. There would be room for hotels and restaurants as well, and a sports and leisure centre is also proposed. The rough outline of the proposed development site near East Midlands Airport (Image: North West Leicestershire District Council) The application is for outline permission only, meaning the developers are looking for approval for the scheme in principle, with further details to be submitted at a later date. As such, there is limited detail on the types of homes proposed. However, documents do say there would be a “variety” of types and heights, and suggest a mix of detached, semi-detached, terraced and apartments would be suitable. The developers added they believe that the new homes would be “in high demand” from local workers, including those employed at nearby East Midlands Airport and the Segro East Midlands Gateway logistic park in Castle Donington. Some 30 per cent of the properties would be classed as “affordable”. Four new access points would be created into the development off the A453 which in turn would be realigned to “remove sharp corners” and ensure safety. Residents can find more information on the plans on the NWLDC planning portal, with a public consultation running until Tuesday, August 12. A target decision date has been set for Friday, October 10. -

Foxes Trust re survey. "We advised the Club that only 449 of the 3,214 participants were Trust members. Supporters completing the survey were not hand-picked. Around 7500 leaflets were given to supporters as they made their way to the final home game of the season, at fan events, and on the coaches to, and displayed inside, the Bournemouth away end. We were able to confidently show the club that this was a survey for all fans and that Trust members represented only around 14% of the sample". I'm not sure how many on here are Trust Members but I'd suggest the numbers are relative low.

https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/marti-cifuentes-picks-out-five-10359972 Marti Cifuentes picks out five players as he explains Leicester City's 'interesting mix' The manager discusses his side's 1-0 win over Zalaegerszegi, with Jordan Ayew netting in the second half to ensure the Spaniard got off to a winning start as boss ByJordan Blackwell 21:43, 19 JUL 2025Updated06:47, 20 JUL 2025 Marti Cifuentes’ “interesting mix” of Leicester City players provided him with plenty of positives to take from his first match in the dugout. The Spaniard watched as his new team beat Hungarian outfit Zalaegerszegi 1-0 on Saturday, with Jordan Ayew scoring the game’s only goal. In what was his first real chance to see the squad in match action, Cifuentes gave minutes to 23 different City players, having previously said he wanted his arrival to feel like a “fresh start”. He was happy with what he saw and seems pleased with the age range in his group, with players aged 16 up to 33. Five players were picked out, with Jeremy Monga, Louis Page and Jake Evans representing the young group, and with Conor Coady and Jannik Vestergaard two of the more experienced heads. Cifuentes told the club: “There are a lot of positive things we can bring with us. There are a lot of things to improve, which is normal at this stage. “The most important thing today was for me to give a proper chance to everyone. We played two teams and we had even more changes in the second half. There were a lot of positives and I’m happy that we won.” “I like the intention, the attitude, and the application of the team. I like that we wanted to be from day one, a team that is dominant and wants to use possession to attack. The timing of the movement and the rotations, everything will come. “I like, as well, to see the young boys. I’m very happy with what I see from Jeremy, from Louis, from Evans, from all the young guys. “And, as well, the application of the experienced players. I liked what I saw from Conor, from Jannik. It’s an interesting mix.” The victory means City are now three for three in pre-season, with the squad securing wins over Peterborough and OH Leuven under Andy King. Cifuentes does not subscribe to the “very common” mantra that results in pre-season do not matter. He added: “What I saw in training we tried to play here. It’s much more fun for everyone, for the fans, for me as a coach, when we can compete (against an opponent). “I said it was important as well to win the game. It’s a friendly, it’s fine, but we are here to win football games. It’s very common in pre-season to say the result doesn’t matter. “For me it matters always, so that’s why I’m happy with the application and I’m happy the team is trying to do what we did in training.”

Those that haven't played yet will probably get 45/60mins then a guaranteed starter will fill in the gaps. The rest will get 90 or so in the next friendlies with his preferred squad against Fiorentina

City take on Hungarian top-flight side Zalaegerszegi on Saturday evening and will look to keep up their 100 per cent pre-season record after wins over Peterborough and OH Leuven. It will be the first time Cifuentes is in the dugout as City boss. The match will give him a clearer picture of his squad, while it will also provide insight into his for the club’s supporters. There could be maiden pre-season appearances for goalkeeper Mads Hermansen and winger Abdul Fatawu. City have taken precautions over the pair following their injuries and they did not feature in either of the first two friendlies. But Fatawu, who tore his ACL eight months ago, and Hermansen, who underwent groin surgery in early May, have both been seen in training at the club’s camp in eastern Austria, near Graz, and so could get minutes against Zalaegerszegi. There’s expected to be a first run-out of pre-season for Jannik Vestergaard. One of the later arrivals after representing Denmark on international duty, he’s been in training for more than a week now and so could feature on Saturday. Fellow centre-back Ben Nelson didn't appear to be in training on the first day in Austria, but has travelled with the group. However, there’s been no sign of left-back Victor Kristiansen at the camp after he limped out of the Leuven friendly. Bobby De Cordova-Reid has not popped up in any photos or videos from Austria either. He was the last player to return to training after playing for Jamaica at the Gold Cup in late June, but he was seen at Seagrave earlier in the week. Some of the young players who have featured in pre-season matches do not appear to be present either, with City perhaps needing to start whittling down their squad. There has been no sign of Michael Golding, Sammy Braybrooke, Tom Wilson-Brown, or Mirsad Ali in Austria. But Stevie Bausor, Jayden Joseph, Bade Aluko, Louis Page, Silko Thomas, Jake Evans and Jeremy Monga remain with the first-team group, while goalkeeper Jake Donohue, number one for the Under-18s last season, has now been called up. Here’s the full rundown of players seen in Austria. Goalkeepers: Mads Hermansen, Jakub Stolarczyk, Stevie Bausor, Jake Donohue. Full-backs: James Justin, Ricardo Pereira, Woyo Coulibaly, Luke Thomas, Jayden Joseph, Bade Aluko. Centre-backs: Wout Faes, Jannik Vestergaard, Caleb Okoli, Conor Coady, Ben Nelson. Central midfielders: Hamza Choudhury, Harry Winks, Boubakary Soumare, Wilfred Ndidi, Oliver Skipp. Attacking midfielders: Bilal El Khannouss, Will Alves, Louis Page. Wingers: Stephy Mavididi, Abdul Fatawu, Kasey McAteer, Wanya Marcal, Jake Evans, Jeremy Monga. Strikers: Patson Daka, Jordan Ayew, Silko Thomas.

Ever since privatisation these water companies have been fleecing us with their undeserved bonuses and pay rises whilst selling off surplus land and providing minimum investment now they want us to pay to put it right. Will they then claim how great they are and award themselves even bigger bonuses. Ofwat have been spineless, toothless and almost complicit watching them break laws and laughing all the way to the bank Water should never have been privatised there is no chance of competition. Serious pollution incidents by water companies have risen 60% in a year, according to the Environment Agency. In total there were 2,801 pollution incidents in England in 2024, the highest on record, compared with 2,174 in 2023. Of these, 75 were considered to pose "serious or persistent" harm to fisheries, drinking water and human health - up from 47 last year. The Public Accounts Committee - a cross party group of MPs - called the level of pollution "woeful".
