BBC Summary At least 12 Thais, mostly civilians, have been killed as Thai and Cambodian troops clash in a disputed border area Cambodia has been accused of firing rockets into a Thai village and attacking a hospital, while Thailand has carried out air strikes on Cambodian military targets Thailand has closed its entire border with Cambodia after telling all its nationals there to leave, while Cambodia has downgraded its ties with Bangkok which they accuse of using "excessive force" Thursday's fighting marks an escalation of a long-standing dispute between the two South East Asian neighbours. Our correspondent Jonathan Head says while nobody thinks this will blow up into a full scale war, at the moment there's a lack of leadership in both countries to pull back from this confrontation

In the comments Paul Edenbrow That is my letter, I was the Director of Sixth Form, I've still got it of course! Phil Stark Rik stayed in my dads hotel when “Bad News” played the Monsters of Rock festival at Donington Park in 1986. He and the rest of the band/crew ran up a bar bill which they failed to pay in full on departure. The hotel sent a standard letter to him asking that the bill (about twenty quid I recall) be settled at his earliest convenience. His reply was much in the vein of this letter calling it an oversight of an “international global megastar”. He also went on to say how busy he was to deal with such trifling matters in a totally hilarious style. Anyway he enclosed a cheque which my dad never cashed. Sadly missed

They where never going to break away from any English competitions they're all about replacing UEFA with their own Euro Competitions so they can have all the money from it. They'll not be leaving the PL ever, well as far as ever can be seen. -

You can check out at any time. More info Free bus journeys are coming to Leicestershire next month. People will be able to travel to key visitor attractions around the county without spending a penny on set days through August, Leicestershire County Council has said. This includes trips to Leicester, Loughborough, Bradgate Park, Twycross Zoo, Fosse Park and the 1620s House and Gardens at Donington le Heath. The free tickets are open to everyone, with no age restrictions, the county authority added. They will be valid every Saturday throughout August on services financially supported by the council, including its on-demand buses. A full list of the routes included can be found below. Each of the services has been launched by the county council this year as part of its bus network review. The authority said it hoped the free tickets would “encourage residents to start using the new and redesigned bus services this summer and beyond”. The scheme is being funded through Government Bus Service Improvement Plan cash. Councillor Charles Whitford, lead member for highways and transport, said: “Whether you’re using bus services to commute, attend an appointment, socialise or enjoy a fun day out, leaving the car at home is one of the easiest ways to say goodbye to traffic and parking stress. There is also the added benefit of cutting pollution and helping improve air quality in Leicestershire. “This is a brilliant opportunity to travel completely for free in August and try out new and improved bus services in your area.” The full list of participating services: Service LC1 – Centrebus – Melton Mowbray – Oakham Service LC2 – Central Connect – Melton Mowbray – Bottesford Service LC3 – Centrebus – Melton Mowbray – Grantham Service LC4 – Centrebus – Fleckney – Market Harborough Service LC5 – Centrebus – Loughborough – Sileby Service LC6 – Centrebus – Coalville – Hinckley (free travel on Saturday, August 30 only) Service LC7 – Centrebus – Leicester – Uppingham Service LC8 – Centrebus – Melton Mowbray – Loughborough Service LC10 – Centrebus – Market Harborough – Lutterworth Service LC11 – Blands – Market Harborough – Corby Service LC14 – Arriva – Fosse Park – Hinckley Service LC15 – Arriva – Coalville – Leicester Service LC16 – Arriva – Loughborough – Shepshed – Ashby Service MC1 – Centrebus – Melton Mowbray Town Service via Clarke Drive and serving John Ferneley Academy Service MC2 – Centrebus – Melton Mowbray Town Service via Queensway and serving Longfield Academy Service MC3 – Centrebus – Melton Mowbray Town Service via Dieppe Way and serving Melton College Service MC4 – Centrebus – Melton Mowbray Town Service via Baldocks Lane serving Birchwood School, Melton Council Offices and Train Station Service MC5 – Centrebus – Melton Mowbray Town Service via Thorpe Road serving Melton Hospital and Snow Hill Industrial Estate Service HC1 – Centrebus – Market Harborough – Little Bowden Service HC2 – Centrebus – Market Harborough – Great Bowden Service HC3 – Centrebus – Market Harborough – Wellington Place Service HC4 – Centrebus – Market Harborough – Southern Estate FoxConnect – Market Harborough FoxConnect – Melton Mowbray FoxConnect – South West Leicestershire FoxConnect – Hinckley, Bosworth and North West Leicestershire More information on the services can be found on the council’s Choose How You Move Website.

https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/leicester-city-friendly-charity-match-10362321 Leicester City friendly will be charity match for school shooting victims Leicester City face German side Koln this Friday, with proceeds from the game to go to support a secondary school where nine students and a teacher were killed last month ByJordan Blackwell 12:04, 21 JUL 2025 Leicester City’s friendly against FC Koln this Friday is to be played in support of victims of a school shooting. City take on the Bundesliga side at the Merkur Arena in Graz at the end of the week to round off their Austria training camp. It has now been announced the friendly will be a charity match, with proceeds going to the parents’ association of BORG Dreierschutzengasse, the secondary school where a shooting took place last month. Nine students aged between 14 and 17 and a teacher were murdered by the gunman, who then killed himself. It was the deadliest mass shooting in modern Austrian history and three days of mourning were declared. All ticket proceeds from the match will be donated to the parents’ association, while free tickets are available for students from the school. The 16,000-capacity Merkur Arena, home of Sturm Graz, is being provided free of charge by Austria’s second city, while City and Koln, as well as organisers International Football Camps Styria (IFCS), will donate €5,000 each, with a €15,000 cheque to be presented to the parents’ association on the day. State governor Mario Kunasek said: “Styria stands united behind all those affected by this unimaginable tragedy. The charity match in Merkur Arena is a strong symbol of compassion, solidarity, and human togetherness. “I thank you IFCS, FC Koln, Leicester City and all involved for their commitment and their clear message: we do not leave the school community of BORG Dreierschutzengasse alone in this difficult time.” Kian Walizadeh, managing director of IFCS, added: “This game is much more than a sporting event. It is a sign of solidarity, remembrance and support for a school community affected by the disaster that has left a deep mark on our city.” The City squad will be split in two on Friday, with one side playing Ukrainian side Karpaty Lviv near the club’s training base in Friedberg (10.30am kick-off UK time), before the other team head to Graz to face Koln (4pm kick-off UK time). City have just one pre-season friendly remaining when they return, at home to Fiorentina on Sunday, August 3, with their competitive campaign beginning the following weekend against Sheffield Wednesday. After three games this summer City have a 100 per cent record, with Marti Cifuentes’ first game on Saturday ending in a 1-0 win over Hungarian outfit. Zalaegerszegi.
