  1. Leicester Memories David Hutchinson · January Anniversary Death of a Leicester industrialist Nathaniel Corah Nathaniel Corah (1777–20 January 1831) was a trader of hosiery and textiles from Leicester in England. He founded the firm N. Corah & Sons which became one of the most important textile manufacturers in the country. Born in Barlestone, Leicestershire he trained as a framesmith and first produced garments on a knitting frame on his farm. An early textile business he formed folded with debts and this resulted in a brief prison sentence. In 1815, upon his release from prison, he started a new business trading clothing items between Leicester and Birmingham. He would purchase locally produced textiles at The Globe public house on Silver Street and trade them in Birmingham. By 1824 his business had expanded and he was able to buy a block of buildings in Leicester's Union Street. In the 1830s his sons John, William and Thomas joined the firm which became N. Corah & Sons Ltd. The Leicester-based company expanded over the next twenty years and this required moves firstly to a new premises on Granby Street and then to the famous St. Margaret's Works site, which opened on 13 July 1865. Such was the rapid growth of this company that by 1866 over one thousand people were employed at St. Margaret's Works. Nathaniel Corah died on the 20 January 1831 after a brief illness.
  2. Newcastle United have set an initial budget of £200M for our new training ground project, according to Newcastle World. To put that into some context Leicester City’s new complex, completed in 2020, cost £100m. The club have so far pumped around £10m revamping the club’s current training base in Benton, knowing it has no long term future. This new training ground will be the best in the entire Premier League, which is seen as essential to push us into the upper echelons of not only domestic, but world football too! It’s understood the new facility will not only house the Newcastle United first-team, but will also have built-in, separate academy and women’s team facilities. The centre piece of the facility will have a purpose-built mini stadium, where junior, youth, women’s and first-team, behind-closed-doors games can be held. Impressive! The same article believes that physical work on the stadium redevelopment or new build won't start until 2027. PIF are showing in these two mega projects though they stand by their long-term commitment to the Newcastle United project. An official announcement on club infrastructure has been tightly guarded, but is expected soon. Wowzer!
  3. Leicester City Football Club today announces two new issues of shares to King Power International and Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, relieving the Club of a combined total of £124m of debt to its parent company and owner. The share allotments, filed with Companies House this week, capitalise previous loans from KPI and Khun Top which have supported the Club’s recent development. The move strengthens the Club’s balance sheet, reduces interest costs and relieves the Club of all remaining shareholder loans. This latest debt-to-equity conversion takes the Srivaddhanaprabha family’s overall investment during its ownership of Leicester City to over £420m. The Club remains grateful for the family’s unwavering support and for the long-term security they continue to provide.

  16. Maybe but the difference is Kasper is new there and somewhat beholden to Rodgers for signing him. At LCFC Kasper was fully integrated into the 'Family' and had been very close to the 'Boss' and been a major influence on them.
  17. I suspect that Rodgers ego clashed with Kasper's who we know was all very opinionated and Rodgers couldn't cope with it so one had to go Rudkin chose Kasper.
  18. You didn't spot my error then
  19. I never said we did a lot of clubs are moaning about it.
  20. Don't know if posted One of the people who served jail time for taking part in the US Capitol riot four years ago has refused a pardon from President Donald Trump, saying: "We were wrong that day." Pamela Hemphill, who pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 60 days in prison, told the BBC that there should be no pardons for the riot on 6 January 2021. "Accepting a pardon would only insult the Capitol police officers, rule of law and, of course, our nation," she said. "I pleaded guilty because I was guilty, and accepting a pardon also would serve to contribute to their gaslighting and false narrative." Hemphill, who was nicknamed the "Maga granny" by social media users - in reference to Trump's "make America great again" slogan - said she saw the Trump government as trying to "rewrite history and I don't want to be part of that". "We were wrong that day, we broke the law - there should be no pardons," she told the BBC World Service's Newsday programme.
