  1. These stoves have always puzzled me in how they are allowed. I can't imagine any smoke created from burning stuff is clean.
  2. This is why I'll never have any real interest in Women's top flight football, I keep an eye on it and watch some bits of LCFC games as they've just created a carbon copy of the bastardised PL. The FA had a chance to create an entirely independent, from the PL a Women's League equally funded and on a level playing field but they chose to chase the money for the benefit of the Sick Six rather than go for organic growth
  3. It's not about logic in fact they're probably quite good at that but football is not about logic well not business logic. They cannot emapthise with any football going fan never mind LCFC ones
  4. Juan Felipe Segura Ramos · Follow The Origin of Humble Pie: A Name Born from Modesty After fulfilling outstanding live performance commitments, including a European tour in January, the Small Faces' dissolution was formally announced in March 1969. Around the same time, Steve Marriott and Peter Frampton revealed plans to form a new band together. Despite these plans being made public in March, the band had already been formed and had begun rehearsing as early as January of that year. Instantly labeled as a "supergroup" by the UK music press due to the star power of its members, the band sought to downplay such lofty expectations. To achieve this, they chose the name Humble Pie, reflecting their desire for modesty and a grounded approach despite their considerable reputations. The group signed with Andrew Loog Oldham's Immediate Records and released their debut album, As Safe as Yesterday Is, in August 1969. Alongside the album, they released the single "Natural Born Bugie"/"Wrist Job," which quickly climbed to No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart, with the album itself reaching No. 16 on the UK Album Charts. Notably, As Safe as Yesterday Is became one of the first albums to be described as "heavy metal" in a 1970 review in Rolling Stone magazine. Their second album, Town and Country, took a different approach, showcasing a more acoustic sound with contributions from all four band members. Released in November 1969, the album coincided with Immediate Records' financial struggles and was rushed to market while the band was on its first U.S. tour. This era also saw the band experimenting with live performances that included both acoustic and electric sets. A highlight was their reimagined version of Graham Gouldman's "For Your Love," which became a centerpiece of their acoustic shows. Recent tape archives revealed that Humble Pie recorded an impressive 30 tracks during its first nine months, many of which remained unreleased for decades. Among these hidden gems was their interpretation of Henry Glover's "Drown in My Own Tears," further showcasing the band's remarkable creativity and range during its early days. #HUMBLEPIE #STEVEMARRIOT #PETERFRAMPTOJ

  9. https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/ruud-van-nistelrooy-hints-potential-9781932 Ruud van Nistelrooy hints at potential Leicester City debutant amid injury problems The manager could be without Boubakary Soumare, Wilfred Ndidi and Harry Winks when he takes his side to Newcastle for his first away game as Leicester City manager ByJordan Blackwell 15:59, 10 DEC 2024 Summer signing Michael Golding could be in line for his Leicester City and Premier League debut this weekend if the club’s stricken midfield duo don’t recover in time. Wilfred Ndidi (hamstring) and Harry Winks (groin) are both injury doubts for this Saturday’s trip to Newcastle, and with Boubakary Soumare suspended, manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has just two senior midfield options available in Oliver Skipp and Hamza Choudhury. The manager has suggested Golding, who has trained with the first team under the Dutchman, would be next in line to feature. A £5m recruit from Chelsea in the summer, the 18-year-old has not yet enjoyed a senior outing for City and has only once been included in a matchday squad, when he was an unused substitute for the Carabao Cup tie at Walsall. But with van Nistelrooy short of options, he could hand Golding a place on a Premier League bench for the first time at St James’ Park, giving him a shot at a debut. Discussing his midfield last week, van Nistelrooy said: “We have many options, also for when there’s suspensions and injuries. We have some good young lads. Michael Golding is there. Will Alves is a bit higher up the pitch, more of a winger or a no.10, but there’s a lot of options here and it’s great to work like this.” Beyond Golding, Henry Cartwright has been a consistent presence and consistently good performer for City’s Under-21s this season. While Golding is perhaps more of an attacking midfielder, showing promise with his dribbling and creativity, Cartwright is a more defensive option, the 19-year-old strong in the challenge and with a good passing range.
  10. Nice job if you can get it! Thames Water boss defends exec bonuses as sewage spills soar Lora Jones & Simon Jack Business reporter and Business editor, BBC News Published 10 December 2024, 07:49 GMT The boss of Thames Water has defended executive bonuses as the firm calls for a hike in customer bills to ensure its survival. Chris Weston said the supplier needed to offer "competitive packages" to attract talent, but the water regulator has previously said that customers must not foot the bill for "undeserved bonuses". It comes as the embattled company saw a 40% increase in pollution incidents in the six months to 30 September, as its debts continued to swell, according to its latest set of results. Thames approaches a critical moment next week, with Ofwat set to decide whether to allow a proposed 59% increase in consumer bills over the next five years. The ailing business is saddled with debts which stood at just under £16bn at the end of September. The firm has said customer bills need to rise or else it will not be able to recover from its financial crisis. However, if the company does collapse, water supplies will not be affected. Water firms across the UK have faced a fierce backlash over sewage discharges and pipe leaks in recent years, but Thames has been in the spotlight given its debt pile, and the fact one in four people in the UK rely on it. Critics have argued the water industry has historically neglected investment in favour of paying executive bonuses and shareholder dividends. But on Tuesday, Mr Weston defended bosses getting £770,000 in bonuses. "I completely understand that there are customers out there who struggle with their bills," he added, pointing to bills support offered to about 377,000 customers in the last year. Mr Weston, who was hired in January, was also awarded a bonus of £195,000 for his first three months at the company. The regulator Ofwat recently blocked three companies, including Thames, from using customer money to pay executive bonuses as bills have steadily increased.
