  2. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c72pj2e5yylo Former England striker Jamie Vardy has started talks about remaining with Leicester City on their top-flight return. The 37-year-old, who has scored 190 goals in his 12 years with the Foxes, could be the last remaining member of Leicester's Premier League-winning side after this summer as Marc Albrighton's time at the club appears to be over. Vardy's 18 league goals, including a double in Monday's Championship title-clinching win at Preston, have been crucial in returning the Foxes to the Premier League. "Jamie is already discussing his new contract with the club so hopefully we can have a solution," head coach Enzo Maresca told BBC Radio Leicester. A new contract, however, will be complicated by the transfer embargo that Leicester are under. The English Football League sanction runs until 6 June and the Premier League would not confirm if they would adopt the embargo after that. Vardy's existing contract is due to run out on 30 June.
  3. https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/how-leicester-city-chairman-rewarding-9265631 The Leicester City squad are set to celebrate their Championship title win on a three-day holiday after an invite by the club's chairman Aiyawatt 'Top' Srivaddhanaprabha Bookmark Comments SPORT ByJordan Blackwell 17:35, 4 MAY 2024 Leicester City’s Championship-winning squad are being whisked off for a three-day holiday as a present from chairman Aiyawatt ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha. City lifted the Championship trophy for a record eighth time on Saturday afternoon following their 2-0 loss to Blackburn, and will parade the silverware around the city centre on Sunday. But from there, they’re jetting off to celebrate. There have been post-season trips to Thailand previously but this time the squad are not going to the chairman’s home country, manager Enzo Maresca said. Instead, they’re going on a private trip to a so far unnamed destination. That will start three weeks off for Maresca before he begins to plan for next season. “Now we have a holiday with the chairman, he invited us for three days,” Maresca said. “Then I will be with the family for two or three weeks of holiday. Now we have three days off and then we can switch off for a bit. Then we’ll start again. After everything is finished, we can think about the future.” Maresca got the day he wanted in celebrating the Championship title, albeit City fell short of reaching 100 points and a record-equalling 32 wins by losing to Blackburn at the King Power Stadium on Saturday. But while there was joy everywhere you looked as the squad headed off on a lap of appreciation, Maresca said “relief” was his overwhelming emotion. City had been favourites to win the division and looked like they would coast to top spot. But a two-month stumble saw Ipswich and Leeds gain ground before City came good at the end. “It’s relief,” Maresca said. “You feel responsible of the club and these people. Less than one year ago, they had a very bad moment compared to what this club has achieved in the past 10 years. The relegation was very sad for everyone. They deserve it. Also the chairman, he deserves it because he’s a very good person.”

  5. AS I said above Leicester City Council purchased a 99-year lease of the theatre in 1974. Between 1974 and 2007 the theatre was operated by The Leicester Theatre Trust. The trust vacated the theatre in 2007 when it moved to the newly built Curve Theatre, Leicester in Leicester's Cultural Quarter. THe latest attempt to save/use it Leicester Haymarket Theatre gets new lease of life from 'Europe's biggest' music and dance school There are still hopes the theatre will reopen to the public at some stage ENTERPRISE ByTom PegdenLeicester Mercury business editor 10:13, 30 AUG 2023 A music and dance school offering degree level courses has signed a one year lease to use Leicester Haymarket Theatre. Addict Dance Academy (ADA) – described as one of the biggest performing arts colleges in Europe – has struck a deal with Leicester City Council to use the 1970s theatre, which sits in a prime location in the city centre. The theatre went bust during Covid owing more than £900,000 to ticketholders, suppliers and other businesses – including almost £285,000 to Haymarket Consortium, the group which relaunched it two years previously. Prior to that the building had been empty after it was superseded by Curve Theatre on the other side of town. The Leicester-based academy will use the theatre’s auditorium, stage, studio and foyer areas for teaching from September 11 – initially for one year. The academy will pay the city council for the costs associated with reopening the building. Leicester Mayor Peter Soulsby said: “Since the Haymarket Theatre closed during lockdown, we’ve been looking for a sustainable solution that will guarantee the future of this wonderful building. “Using the theatre as a teaching venue for dance and musical theatre students will bring the building back into use in the short-term and could even be part of a more permanent solution, so I’m really pleased to announce our partnership with Addict Dance Academy. “In the longer term, however, I’m determined to reopen the theatre to the public, and look forward to working with partners to create a programme that will attract new audiences and complement what’s on at Curve and De Montfort Hall. “While that will require some further modest investment, to allow us to replace outdated equipment and carry out further upgrades, we remain committed to reopening the theatre fully and making sure that the lights stay on at this iconic Leicester landmark.” The licence with ADA will run for one year initially, and over the next 12 months both sides will decide whether a longer-term arrangement would work. ADA was established in 2012 and operates from two sites in the city – Imperial House, in St Nicholas Circle, and Wellington Street. Founder and principal Gareth Chown said: “We’re already one of the largest performing arts colleges in Europe, with around 600 students on our books, but demand for our courses at both further and higher education level is huge. “Last year, for example, we had to turn down applications from more than 1,000 would-be students because we just couldn’t accommodate them. “Having the Haymarket Theatre as our teaching base means there’s potential for us to expand our remit and work towards developing a wider range of complementary courses covering subjects such as sound, lighting, wardrobe and make-up. “The opportunity to teach our students on one of the biggest theatre stages in the country is amazing and we can’t wait to move in on 11 September, in time for the start of the new academic term.” Antony Flint, venue director at De Montfort Hall – which will take over the day-to-day running of the theatre – said: “The cultural ecosystem in the city is quite finely balanced so it’s important that the Haymarket Theatre works alongside other arts organisations in the city rather than competing against them. “The mixed use model for the theatre that we hope will develop out of the partnership with ADA should help support culture in the city, while also making sure the venue is financially viable. “Having an education company using the theatre during the daytime provides a really solid base to work on and, importantly, doesn’t prevent us from exploring further opportunities that could help ensure the Haymarket Theatre has a bright, and sustainable, future.”

A youth product of the Leicester City academy, King joined Bristol City in 2021 from the Foxes' Belgian sister club OH Leuven and has made 63 appearances for the Robins over the past three seasons. However, the 35-year-old has struggled for game time this term, starting just four Championship matches with a total of 17 appearances. The midfielder did earn a brief cameo last weekend in Liam Manning side's 2-0 victory at home to relegated Rotherham United and there is a chance that he'll be given the opportunity to take to the pitch one last time when City head to Stoke City tomorrow for their final game of the season. The majority of King's football was played at the King Power Stadium as he made 379 appearances for Leicester with his first coming in October 2007 before being part of the Foxes' League One, Championship and Premier League winning sides, making him a true club legend. However, the Barnstaple-born midfielder grew up a Bristol City supporter and finally got the opportunity to play for the Robins just under three years ago, making his debut against Blackpool in August 2021. On his retirement, King said: Thank you all for the amazing support I've absolutely loved my three years here. "It was an absolute honour to have played for this football club, one that I've spent many years watching, coming to the games as a child. "To be able to pull on the shirt for myself and walk out at Ashton Gate with my own family, my own children is so special. "I wanted my last game to be in a Bristol City shirt and I think that's the perfect way for me to go out." Manning added: "It's been a privilege to work with Andy in my time at Bristol City so far. "He has had an incredible career and what he has ahcieved in the game is extraordinary. "The impact he has had on the dressing room and the young players at the club is invaluable, and his presence will be missed by everybody. "I wish him all the best in the future." King was brought to the club by former Leicester boss Nigel Pearson and has been a huge influence in the dressing room as a mentor to the Robins' young talent coming through since his arrival in BS3, helping the likes of Alex Scott, Tommy Conway and Sam Bell. Regarding what happens next, the past year has seen the 35-year-old take up a player-coach role and the former Wales international has also earned all of his necessary badges. Although what's next exactly is unclear, the fact that Manning added "so far" to his comment is certainly interesting. Technical Director Brian Tinnion also said: "Andy is a fantastic person and has been a huge role model for young players at Bristol City. "His impact on and off the pitch will not be forgotten, and he will always be welcome back at the club."

  8. It's a shame the club continually fails to show an interest in our past players and achievements. Surely there must be a simple way to recognise past players even a 'Walk' of some kind can't be beyond the abilities of KP to implement without it impacting on their desire for every aspect of the stadium to look like KPFC.

  10. Football Feed · Leicester signed Abdul Fatawu on loan from Sporting Lisbon last summer after he failed to impress in their C team after his FREE transfer from Ghanaian 2nd division side Steadfast FC. The Ghanian club asked for no transfer fee as they didn’t want to stand in the way of his career in Europe but a 50% sell on clause in the first 3 years of his move to Sporting, knowing he was destined for greatness. Leicester had a mandatory obligation to buy for £14m if they get promoted, which has now triggered netting the Ghanian minnows a whopping £7m. To offer some context, the highest fee ever received by Steadfast FC was for £25,000 previously. There’s going to be some celebration in Ghana when that cheque hits! Cracking story

Apart from the increase in numbers we've yet to feel any impact new individual members can have. It will take time to integrate fully the new members into areas of the Trust to drive change. The 26-year-old will be available on a free transfer this summer, with his Sky Blues contract expiring in June. Sources told Football Insider on Tuesday (30 April) that the attacker has told his current club that he will leave in the summer transfer window. Aston Villa, West Ham and Southampton are all interested in signing the player ahead of the new season. Now, Leicester are pushing hard to land a player who is eager to prove himself in the Premier League. O’Hare has registered 10 goals and four assists in all competitions this season, helping Coventry reach the FA Cup semi-finals. Leicester City join chase for Championship star The former Villa attacker scored four goals in this season’s tournament, including one in the semi-final defeat to Man United. He has also scored six Championship goals, where Coventry are currently aiming to achieve a top-10 finish, with the club sitting in ninth place with one match left to play. It remains to be seen who will win the race for O’Hare, but a Premier League place is likely given the interest from the Foxes, Villa and the Hammers. Southampton meanwhile could return to the top flight next season having secured a play-off spot, with the Saints currently fourth in the Championship table. Leicester could lose a star of their own this summer, with sources telling Football Insider last month that Tottenham will go head-to-head with Brighton and Brentford in the race for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
