  2. Doesn’t mean it doesn’t reflect accurately a lost era. That could be me in the 60s
  3. Admission It was originally behind the Merc paywall by Jordan Blackwell I just got AI to paraphrase it as a football fan rant.
  4. There used to be a few of these around the centre. Was out with a few mates one evening having had a few beers when one of my mates, who'd had a few too many saw one went up to it and kicked it saying out loudly you're not a spastic (accepted word back then) I've just seen you around the corner whilst kicking it. This massive giant of a guy saw him went up to him and nutted him knocking him to the floor and out cold. Can't say he didn't deserve it.
  5. Even that's not as nice as it used to be.
  6. The Football Collective · Follow No £80 replica shirts. No phones out filming everything. No marketing campaigns telling you how special it all was. No one flying in from Singapore having paid £700 for a ticket. Just lads turning up hours early, queuing from half one to get through the turnstiles. Football when it was simple. Cold hands, muddy terraces, and the only thing that mattered was getting your place on the wall. #fblifestyle Young lads without their parents able to afford tickets without membership on a first come first served basis. Probably a large proportion of the atmosphere as well.
  7. I presume that's Freeview. I didn't know about this and never saw it publicised anywhere.
  8. None of the nine signings this season were in the 11 on Saturday. Honestly, what are City even doing at this point? We’ve already shipped Julian Carranza back, the Aaron Ramsey “let’s take a gamble” experiment has gone exactly how everyone expected — he’s barely been fit — and Jamaal Lascelles looks like another one we’ve signed straight off the treatment table. Joe Aribo? The manager clearly doesn’t fancy him. Dujuan Richards? Only got near the bench because Jeremy Monga was crocked. So what was the point of signing half of these lads? You can’t bring in nine players in one season and still end up relying on the same old faces and the academy kids. It just screams that nobody at the club knows what they’re doing. Recruitment looks clueless, the people above them look clueless, and the manager clearly doesn’t want half the players he’s been given. How do you sign players literally weeks before Rowett arrives and he immediately decides, “Nah, not for me”? It’s embarrassing. It’s a waste of money. And it’s exactly why the club never moves forward. Now it’s all dumped on James McCarron’s desk. Good luck to him, because unless City start signing players who can actually get on the pitch — and actually improve the team — we’re just going to keep going round in circles while everyone else overtakes us.
  9. Merc Of the 13 matches they’ve led at the break, they’ve now failed to win seven, the most in the division. They’ve lost 13 points through goals conceded in the final 15 minutes of matches, the most in the division, albeit they have won 10 points late on in matches they've been chasing.
  10. The Football Collective · Follow 8 FA Cup matches this weekend. Only 1 on free to air TV. A competition that shaped generations of supporters is now locked behind a £31 paywall. Football does not grow when you hide it away. It grows when kids can sit down and watch it with their parents and fall in love with the rawest and most magical cup in the world. The FA Cup deserves better. And so do the fans.

  15. He'll only bring someone on after we've defended for 90% of the game creating nothing and when we've then conceded in the 60s.

  17. It's not been helped by KPs delusions of grandeur both on and off the pitch believing they were on a par potentially with the 6, it was never going to be the case by focussing on the tourist fan with high prices and luxury add-ons. It was clear with the expanded stadium seating layout and questionnaire that this was their target audience instead of young local support particularly late teens early 20s like you say. So now they will pay the price even if they get back to the PL those teens etc will have found something else to keep their attention and loyalty.
  18. https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/news/leicester-news/gallery/devastation-leicester-speedway-after-vandals-10851201 Devastation at Leicester Speedway after vandals break in on two nights in a row The team is now in a 'race against time' before the season starts The starting line has been destroyed (Image: Leicester Lions) By Samuel Kalantzis Reporter Significant damage has been caused at Leicester Speedway after people broke in on two consecutive nights. Leicester Lions Speedway, in The Pavilion, in Beaumont Park, has been severely damaged by vandals who broke in on two consecutive nights between Sunday, March 1 and Wednesday, March 4. According to Leicestershire Police, the first report of a burglary was received just before 12.30pm on Wednesday (March 4). It was reported that damage had been caused to a fence and workshop, and that catering facilities had been broken into. Then just after 8.45am yesterday (Thursday, March 5) a second report was received stating a lorry had been broken into. The speedway's track equipment was stolen, while the perimeter fencing was heavily damaged, and one of the track's bends was destroyed. The speedway is used by Watling JCB Leicester Lions, who race in the British Speedway’s ROWE Motor Oil Premiership. The team was preparing for the start of the season on Monday, April 6, but has now suffered serious setbacks from the break-ins. Co-promoter at the speedway, Jen Crossland said: "We're devastated because we’ve worked so hard and the last two years we won the knockout cup, but literally before the season starts this happens, and it couldn’t have come at a worse time." Speaking about the moment she saw the damage, Ms Crossland said: "I can’t tell you the feeling. When I walked in, my heart just sank. "It makes you feel sick; it is the most horrible feeling seeing the devastation that they’ve caused. "It's soul-destroying because we have worked so hard alongside brilliant volunteers to get the place to where it is, but someone has just come along and wiped it all out." The co-promoter said she believes the culprits climbed over the fence and into the speedway before 'joyriding' around the site and causing significant damage. In an attempt to repair the track in time for the upcoming season, Leicester Lions has set up a GoFundMe page for donations. Jen said many residents have also offered their own free time to help with repairs. She said: "There is now a lot of work to do, and we thank everyone who is offering their time and support. We are just trying to put it all together so we can open on time." "We're not going to let these people beat us. We are going to do the most we can with the amazing support of the community and hopefully be back on our feet in no time." An investigation into the break-ins is ongoing and officers from the West Leicester Neighbourhood Policing Area (NPA) are speaking to representatives from the speedway and carrying out further enquiries into both incidents. Anyone with information about the break-ins is being asked to contact police, quoting incident 270 of 4 March. One of the corners has been destroyed (Image: Leicester Lions
  19. I try to console myself with this as KPFC failing as LCFC disappeared before our very blinkered eyes from the moment KP owned us. They may have brought unprecedented success but it's been at the loss of LCFC The alienating of the fans, for sure they've maintained a good relationship with the wider community ironically so much better than they have with the match going fans. It started within weeks as the Walkers Stadium became the KP Stadium and any nods to our history were replaced by everything KP You'll find Leicester City Football Club hidden behind the two big screens As I posted on the Remembering when LCFC moved....... "The thing with Filbert St you knew instantly it was the home of Leicester City Football Club as for KP well.................. it could be anyone's"
