Why aren't we making actual substitutions in games?
Les-TA-Jon replied to LFox99's topic in Leicester City Forum
No, not really. In 16 games it's 3 subs or less. In 21 games it's 4 subs or more. -
Haha - to be fair, in this instance I'm not sure I've said anything's certain. Getting to 100 points gives us a very good chance, is what I pointed out. Getting the 18 points required for it is another thing! If everyone sustains their 'previous 9 form' over the final 9 games, the table will finish up at: Leeds 104 Leicester 98 Ipswich 97 Southampton 91 Basically it's incredibly tight!

Yes....? Hence why I specifically said "If Leeds, Ipswich and Southampton win all their games and draw the fixtures when we all play each other that'd have a final standing of:

If we do something like W5 D3 L1, we'd finish on 100 points If Leeds, Ipswich and Southampton win all their games and draw the fixtures when we all play each other that'd have a final standing of: Leeds 104 Ipswich 103 Leicester 100 Southampton 97 Then factor in the chances of all 3 of them getting 'maximum' points...

That too then - I definitely remember a game later in the season than Hull H where it happened too -

I can only really think of a couple. Faes maybe should have conceded a penalty in a home game earlier this season (might have been Sunderland H?) and Fatawu got away with a nasty challenge in a home game that should have been a red (think maybe Plymouth H?) -

Yeah think that one falls into the territory of 'you've seen them given' but it's not clear cut at all. But then again we don't have all the angles you'd get in the PL -

Is there a clip anywhere of this supposed 2nd penalty shout for Leicester in the Hull game? I don't think I saw it on the club's extended highlights video. -

FFS looks like we've both had the same Monday morning.... Slight downward trend but nothing major. Averages 3.7 subs per game. Average minute of each sub: 1st sub 59mins 2nd sub 72mins 3rd sub 79mins 4th sub 80mins 5th sub 83mins Number of subs: 0 subs 0/37 1 subs 0/37 2 subs 7/37 matches (19%) 3 subs 9/37 matches (24%) 4 subs 10/37 matches (27%) 5 subs 11/37 (30%) Of course none of this accounts for non-tactical subs (injuries) or benchmarks it against any other team. Interestingly, the 7 matches where he only made 2 subs all occurred from matchday 15 onwards and the results were: Earlier on in the season there was a run where he made 4 or 5 subs each game, from matchday 4 to 14. We won 10 out of 11 games. But of course, if you're already winning you're probably more likely to make more subs and feel you can risk it! -

Think it was Sunderland H when Faes got away with one. -

Given that the officials come from an organisation that is separate to the EFL and PL, how does this work, in practice? -
Certainly helped us in the run-in in 2016

Leeds tonight and early kickoff for Ipswich tomorrow could put a lot of pressure on us. Hull game is huge.

My understanding: 1️⃣ club submits it’s financials to EFL earlier this season, as normal, as all clubs do 2️⃣ based on this EFL projects that we will fail to comply by the end of this season 3️⃣ based on their own rules they request additional docs and a business plan from Leicester 4️⃣ Leicester then (presumably on a technicality) contested that the rule doesn’t compel them to do so 5️⃣ this were referred to an independent panel who have now ruled that Leicester are correct and they don’t *have* to submit anything 6️⃣ EFL has confirmed this today and said “we’ll be changing this rule in the future to make this work as intended” 7️⃣ Leicester own statement confirmed that they’re in discussions with EFL regarding financial rules that about right?

That's not how the rules work though. There's no rules on 'diving'. There are rules on 'simulation' and that has nothing to do with contact or not. You can simulate even if there was contact. Contact doesn't mean it's impossible for a situation to be a simulation/dive. -

Not the kind of thing that 'should' be handball, but PL VAR probably would have given it. -
One FA cup trophy this year in exchange for potentially being stuck in the 2nd division or worse for 5-10 years? With dwindling prestige, managerial prospects and lower quality of players coming through? And being hamstrung/receiving points penalties by the EFL for the first 2-3 years too? Blimey.
-
I suppose the other thing as well is, for us to not get Autos, 2 of them need to overtake us. With Southampton involved in both fixtures but also the team furthest behind, the whole 'they still play each other' thing has less relevance, since Ipswich and Leeds could win both games.
-
Yes sorry forgot to add that note. I'm not going to adjust them because it's really tricky to figure out. But I should have had the note.
-
I guess I just see the overall health and position of the club and its ability to compete for silverware as intrinsically linked, so my thinking is that A leads into B.
-
Bit of a simplistic take. FA Cup vs Promotion, right now in the current context is no contest. If we don't go up this season, you're looking at a complete fire-sale/complete overhaul of the squad, Maresca gone - we'd be almost instantly back to 2008 era and would be at risk of becoming a Stoke. Is all of that really worth a trophy? One that we recently won too?

W7 D2 L1 gives us 104 The maximum points for the others: Ipswich 108 Leeds 106 Southampton 103 EDIT: And of course they can't all get those totals due to Ipswich vs Southampton 1st April and Leeds vs Southampton 4th May
-
The upcoming games... Leeds and Ipswich both play their next game before us. Which isn't ideal. Then they both play game 38 before us. So worst case scenario, lose to Hull, with Ipswich and Leeds win their 2 games and it's: Ipswich 84 Leeds 82 Leicester 81 (with a game in hand) Then our next two fixtures after that come before the others play, but we'll have an annoying game in hand for a while...
