  1. It's pretty obvious that he's saying 'conceding goals is inevitable' and that therefore you just have to 'decide' how you're going to concede them. Is it going to be whilst trying to play your chosen style (building from the back, drawing in and passing through the press) or in some other way, like being caught on the break or in transition. Clearly last season one of our weaknesses was getting caught on transition, due to general lack of pace at the back (Vestergaard), indeed many of the goals we conceded were of this type. Many of the sides we played against wanted to park the bus and hit us on the break. So it's no surprise that our system was designed around reducing the chances of transitions and taking fewer risks the further up the pitch we went. Is it better to concede goals whilst trying to achieve your game plan (due to known risks of that style) or to concede them when the plan's gone wrong? I know which I prefer...
  2. I always thought LCFC were the true powerhorse club of the East Midlands
  3. You seem to be misunderstanding the word "underperformance" No one is contesting that that our relegation in 22/23 with 34 points is a worse performance than Derby's 11 points 07/08 But it's about context, hence my use of the word underperformance - i.e performance relative to wider context of the situation. We finished top half 5 seasons in a row and then went down. No one's ever done that before. Derby had come up when they shouldn't have and made little to no investments in the team - their overall situation was doomed from the start.
  4. The game has moved on a bit in the last 50 years...
  5. Likewise for 2021. Daka, the much needed understudy to Vardy, but earlier than we needed him, giving him time to bed in with Vardy and Iheanacho taking the main pressure; he'd been banging them in for fun in Austria. Soumare, powerhouse midfielder who just won Ligue 1 against the odds. Vestergaard much needed CB after Fofana's last minute leg break adding much needed PL experience at the back too. Bertrand on a free looked like a Fuchs esque signing. Lookman much needed winger. And it was all against the backdrop of keeping Tielemans and not selling a first teamer.
  6. Given we've signed him and spent money on him, how could he help with PSR?
  7. The new development yesterday was that LCFC had challenging the notion that the PL had jurisdiction over us for the full period in question, in the first instance, based purely on a very technical and hyper-literal reading of the PL rules. That challenge was rejected and the decision was that the PL does have jurisdiction and the Independent Commission can go ahead and rule on PL's charges to us. LCFC have appealed that decision. So it seems like our strategy is still to try and find loopholes.
  8. KDH, 25 years old to Chelsea = £30m Kilman 27 years old, Wolves to West Ham = £40m
  9. Remember Leicester fans on just about any outgoing? Player is playing for Leicester and is half decent and worth a few bob = "World class, £50m+ to buying clubs please" Same player leaves later that window = "Eh wasn't that good anyway, won't be particularly missed"
  10. He'll fit right in!
  11. If we sell KDH for £25m that's £25m in the profit column for this year If as part of that deal we receive a player in return, then he has a purchase value of £0, so nothing to add into our costs/lost 'column' The alternative is £35m profit for KDH for this year, but then spending say £10m on a replacement, which would be amortised across say a 4 year deal, for £2.5m in the loss/cost column for this year (and £2.5m in each following year).
  12. OK lets take you at your word then. Which Championship clubs have overweight part time players in their squads?
  13. I mean this is just hyperbolic nonsense, unless you're trying to be funny?
  14. are waiting until June 30th / July 1st to officially become a PL team, for the PL to give us our charges? Given the stuff earlier on in the season with the EFL / PL and the fact that our breaches apply to 22/23 season, surely the PL already know what our charges are?
  15. @Aus Fox by the looks of things
  16. Yes he did. Is this really a stick to beat him with? Plenty of teams have gone down with good squads and not gone straight back up. Define 'made a mess of it' - we won the league. Had all games been played simultaneously we were always Top for the last several months of the season? Did we lose to those games because of Maresca's system? Lots of them coincide with post Xmas slump, the news about the financials, Rudkin/Enzo falling out and in most of those games we missed sitters which cost us Ipswich also incredibly spawny in those games. Clear pen for us at Portman Road not given. Daka goal for 2-0 away at Leeds, before yes a collapse. But it sounds like you didn't watch the game anyhow... We dropped points in games, yes. All teams do. We did it less than everyone else and won the league We won 14 out of the opening 15 games. Try again. Farke failed at Leeds with arguably a better/more balanced squad. This would have been a terrible decision as we'd have to pay him off and sign a new manager. Have you been paying any attention to the financial situation? We don't and now we'll never know. We don't know how he may or may not have adapted things. OK Again, glad you're not in charge of such things. Is it? He'd only have to be here longer than a season so not much of a prediction is it? But even then if we stay up, will the club be looking for another manager suited to their preferred style? If you think football is as simple as 'backwards pass = boring, forwards pass = exciting' then it might be time for a new hobby.
  17. Independent of the PL / EFL is still a lot more independent that current set up, even if it is ultimately influenced or pressured by Government whims.
  18. No players to coach (they're on holiday or at euros) No players to buy (window is closed) What's the rush? Clearly early summer indication was that Enzo was staying. So they've had to replace him from a standing start. It's a very important appointment ahead of a challenging season with a lot of unique limitations, so also not an immediately attractive post. They've got to identify the correct candidate whilst also probably do some persuading to get him here in the first place, whilst also avoiding a stupid Rodgerseque contract. I'd rather them take their time and increase chances of getting it right than rush just to appease some twitchy folks on the forum
  19. Oh god, you're saying we're all going to turn into @Pub breath next season? "We wouldn't be in the relegation zone if it wasn't for our slow start"
  20. It’s cheaper to give him the deal and keep him than it is to replace him
  21. Maybe he already did? How would you know?
  22. It’s not ideal but we’re in a corner really. Offer him less and he’s little incentive to sign on. Then we yet another player to replace on a shoestring budget
  23. In the relegation season our opening was: W1 D2 L7 So I'm not so sure...
  24. When did this happen? Or do you mean this coming season?
