im waiting for a repeat of that Slovenian lad we'd signed a pre contract for ahead of the 2005/06 season who then never actually showed up. surely rudders can manage that
-
starting to wonder just how much involvement Cooper had in Forests 712 signings window, because previously I thought it was just that mad Greek buying anyone and everyone who made eye contact with him
-
you shouldn't ever buy players because no one will ever want to buy them off you, so pay more each season to loan them instead
-
0.7 goal creating actions per 90 puts you at around 25 goal involvements a season, and his goal rate would be a 10-12 goal season as the main starter. for a lower half team that is perfectly respectable.
-
right so your budget cost is 3.5m/year (so 6m less than Zaha in this seasons books) and for that you've got a saleable asset, where next summer a sale for £12.5m and you've broken even, money you'd easily get if they help keep you up or even if they look reasonable while you go down, and if not you've got a proven championship talent to help fire you back up. I don't hate the idea of Zaha but financials are better to go back to our buy prospects and sell on model, a move for Zaha is the sort of divergence that sees us in this PSR hole to start with
-
so, same plan as always then?
-
I know Rudkin is bad at his job but 8m a year is 150k per week. even he couldn't mess up and put someone like Philogene on that
-
see, that's the thing, his footballing ability is not bad at all and there is a pretty clear trend of black footballers being afforded less understanding by fans than white British ones. like, let's say we were linked with a young British striker, 24, who's had a couple of seasons as back up in the prem and has what would equate to a 9 in 26 record in that time, with an over all goal creating action rate of 0.70 per 90. people would be spaffing themselves silly. however, that's Dakas record and he's an object of ridicule
-
wouldn't say it's unnecessary, there's still a fair bit of latent racism knocking round, and you can be pretty confident that if his name was Patrick Deck and he'd come out of our academy it wouldn't just be the stats nerds saying he's okay and people need to lay off him.

**** off Brussel Martin
-
the sort of club crying out for a Steve cooper. what do you say Ridsdale, you love spunking money up a wall.
-
it'll be a forest lingaard though. like I'm not convinced this is a good deal, simply because he's a winger. we've already got Fatawu and Mavididi, we should be looking at rotation options for them. BDCR is one, then the other, if we're saying that Mcateer and Marcal are not ready, should be looking either a cheaper loan or spending that £10m on a young championship prospect so there's long term options and potential sell on value, rather than a bloke on the downward swing for a year with attitude question marks.
-
it's structured that way for tax purposes, and is the equivalent of ~3m loan fee plus paying his wages from what's been said

Ryan Lowe sacked by Preston why would you not get rid in June if he was this close to the sack? -
tbf, going for a poolside holiday is about all we've done this summer

https://theanalyst.com/eu/2024/08/premier-league-predictions-2024-25-opta-supercomputer/ 0.1% chance of European football, 5x better than our title odds in 2016. see you all in Leipzig for the conference league final 2026

yes, there's this thing called context. that does not say that winning trophies is irrelevant, it says that having won a trophy in the past doesn't change our current trajectory.
-
that's not what was said, the point is past performance doesn't give permanent protection from poor future performance
-
"the squad have quickly taken to his methods and enjoyed a positive pre-season" what??? in what world has this been a positive preseason
-
potter wanted his own men in, doesn't go with the jobs for the boys approach we've taken
-
bold to announce your intent to commit child abuse on the internet

I mean, if your premiere source of information is a guy who posts shit on twitter for clout might as well go the full hog and just decide everything based on dril tweets
-
him and Daka would be a good set of striking options, with Vardy as an impact finisher, but if the budget is what is claimed in the athletic then surely we've got to look cheaper and get a creative midfielder in? would love him and O'Reilly here but if it has to be one (and the way our budget has been talked about it probably does unless we've finally found a buyer for squad baggage like Soumare) then surely it has to be O'Reilly to get the service in

lol, time to retire Wayne, do the punditry circle where no-one cares if you don't know shit, just how big your name is -
it's the performances. when we say fitness we should mean sharpness. if it was fitness then you'd just spend all summer in the gym and on the training pitch, you'd be fit as a fiddle but you wouldn't be sharp. friendlies are there for players to get drilled in the patterns of play and executing them under pressure from opposing players without the pressures of points. what patterns of play are we seeing, do the players look like they know what our tactics are and how to execute them?
