These deals are for massive amounts of money and if you think Rodgers has the final say you operate on a level I can't. To attribute our performances to him is acceptable. It's more likely that the board ask the manager what areas need strengthening, the recruitment team compile lists of players to suit. Then maybe a player, let's pick Perez, is suggested as a player that can be signed and could Rodgers see him fitting into the team and style of play. Rodgers say yes and then the board spunk 30m on him. I'd see that scenario as more likely than Rodgers saying get me this player and make sure you spend at least 30m on him.

Who knows. Would you spend 30m of your cash on someone's recommendation. Of course you wouldn't.

Sure some people need hugs and cuddles just to do their job, but some need a good kick up the arse. I'd argue professional footballers should be tough enough to take the latter.
