Boomslang was the LP. Not much to shout about on there apart from that single. Yeah, understandable. He’s obviously always going to be compared to Morrissey. So in terms of lyrics he’s never going to win that battle. Electronic was his best post-Smiths project, but I quite like his recent solo stuff fwiw.

This one? One of my favourites of his.

Easy Life had this on in the intermission the other night. Been stuck in my head since.

I was speaking to someone in the pub after a Morrissey gig years ago and they mentioned this to me, but I forgot the name of the song the next day and it bugged me for ages. Nice one

I’d set my expectations low for the gig, but was very impressed with Kasabian the other night. Pleased for the remaining lads in band that the tour appears to be going down well with the crowds. Rate Tom’s new song (not a fan of the new Kasabian one). Would be interesting to see what he’s like at a solo gig too.

Glad I got up at stupid o’clock to watch the Chargers Raiders game last night. Bolts top of the AFC West, not blowing leads, and properly looking like a decent team.
-
Better than the studio version of the song imo. Gutted I never got to see Bowie live.

The amount of soft DPI penalties you see are a prime example of the flag-happy refs. Also these new taunting rules are ridiculous. Surely no NFL fan or player wants that .

I was looking at the game on Sunday in isolation, and I thought we were hard done by — but that’s all fair enough. You win some, you lose some.
-
Fair enough if they make the right call, but they didn’t. I’m therefore less inclined to trust their judgement. Judgment that I thought was questionable at best yesterday. The illegal shift called on us that I mentioned which costs us a touchdown — it’s really harsh imo, but whatever. However, they have to make the same call on the Cowboys, which they don’t: Certain teams and players get away with far more than others, and I find it intensely annoying.
-
Referees doubly ruined my Sunday with Chargers also getting mugged. That sack called on Herbert is laughable. The ineligible man downfield and illegal shift calls that chalked off two touchdowns were ridiculously harsh too.

Loving in Stereo came out today. Decent album. Keep Moving, Bonnie Hill, and Truth being my favourites so far. Looking forward to seeing these live in a few weeks. The marble vinyl looks very smart too!

Johnson doesn’t come out of this looking good — but will it change anyone’s opinions of him or show up in the opinion polls? I highly doubt it. And to be fair, I can’t say the interview surprised me or taught me something I didn’t already suspect goes on in Downing Street. What is more annoying for me was how Cummings and a dozen or so others thought they could play kingmakers, and how Cummings was so smug about it. He’s there to serve and advise Johnson, nothing else. Trying to depose a legitimately elected Prime Minister because you don’t like the way he does things now he’s got a new wife is repugnant behaviour. And to be clear, I’m no a fan of Johnson and don’t necessarily disagree with Cummings on the failures of the current system; but he’s not an elected official. The fact he thought he had the right to do this proves how self-righteous the man is. Cummings certainly isn’t the first of that ilk as you note though, and he of course won’t be the last.

This was the bit that got my back up too. Cummings is clearly a switched on bloke, but his arrogance is repulsive. It seemed like it was all a game for him.

Great concert. Stewart Copeland in particular on top form.

If you’re a record collector, NGHFB have released some really smart coloured vinyl and picture disc versions of the albums/singles/EPs. Some of which you can still pick up at a decent price.
-
Listened to it a couple of times today and it’s a solid album. Of the tracks I’d not heard before, music to walk home to was probably my favourite. Really impressed. Will pick up a physical copy next time I’m in town.

Have we left our ‘rivals’ behind?

Cov games always seemed like the ones with the most edge to me growing up. A couple of Cov fans have said to me how much they hate that now we’re now seen as a likeable club. They’re incredibly bitter that we ended up with our owners and they got lumbered with SISU. Always saying that we ‘cheated’ in 2002/03 by getting promoted after going into administration.
