Might be worth merging with the Twitter thread as this is so far out, but we were linked with the West Brom winger the other day. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-12737397/West-Brom-Tom-Fellows-Leicester-Southampton.html 20 year old right footed left winger. Been playing off the bench for WBA this season, and out of contract in the summer. Southampton also monitoring him.
-
I like Richards, but I think we need a left footer there. I don't think it's a coincidence that Mavididi's and KDH's threat in the final third has dropped off since he's been out.
-
The only reason I say about another LW is because I think Stephy is being overplayed. When he's on it, he's electric, but when he's not I don't see that we have many options to replace him, unless McAteer gets back to his early season form (🤞). KDH is currently our most creative, goalscoring 8. That's a big burden on him—he can't do everything. He needs a high-level partner to pull their weight. Hamza isn't an 8, Ricky P is our best inverted full back, Ndidi is out at the mo, as is Akgun, and Casadei is young/inconsistent/inexperienced. One good 8 would make a huge difference. Maybe that will be Akgun eventually. I know I've omitted Praet, but I'm skeptical he will play much. Reckon he'll leave in Jan.

We need a goalscoring 8, Doyle-esque left back and cover for Winks. I'd suggest we also need a striker and a left winger to push Mavididi, but I don't think those will happen. An 8 is critical.

My initial reaction to back-to-back defeats was naturally frustration and concern. However, watching highlights, interviews, and reading various opinions on the game, I've got to say we all need to take a breath. Enzo has managed less than 40 first-team games (I think). Folk are right that our squad should be up there at the top of the pile...but remember we've also dramatically changed our system, which is tactical. That bit takes a while, and so far we've won a lot of games. Another manager might have got us to the top, but they wouldn't have implemented a brand new system. That doesn't mean it's perfect, but we are committing to and learning it still. The only concern I have is our lack of threat from strikers. What exactly are Vardy or Iheanacho tasked with doing? Are they doing it? Are they not? Are they poorly suited? If so, what type of striker would suit the system? I do think we really lack a goalscoring 8, which Ndidi has essentially been shaped as so far. I think his and Doyle's injuries have really hurt us, more than we realise.

Back to back losses it is then.

Not actually working this time sadly!

There's no way he's ready for first team football just yet, as much as we'd love that. I'd much rather he gets a couple more games under his belt for match fitness, ready for the December and January run of games where there will be plenty of opportunities for him to play. What do I know though? Maresca and the fitness team might think he's ready. -

I love that Fleetwood have a player called "Xavier Simons". Did a double-take at first 😂. -
That's hopefully what Cannon is for. Still, a lot to pin on a player that's been out injured since we signed him. I don't think we sign a striker until the summer, when Iheanacho is out of contract, Daka may well leave, and Vardy likely renews for another year.
-
Forgot how crap this feels, which says a lot really. Very annoying, but you can only hope we get our shit together, as the last three performances have been poor.
-
Is anyone able to record this game and upload it somewhere afterwards? Annoyingly looks like I won't be able to watch it now 😔.
-
From what I remember, he was a possession-based, Cruyffian-inspired coach.
-
Useful article on him here, from Sky Sports: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.skysports.com/amp/football/news/11688/12996862/marti-cifuentes-exclusive-interview-new-qpr-coach-arrives-with-fresh-ideas-from-scandinavia-via-ajax-and-even-millwall TL;DR: Was Hammarby coach, who had two games left of the season. Cruyff disciple, and likes to develop youth, so QPR going back to trying to be a ball-playing side that develops players to sell on it seems.

He won't be quite ready just yet. Training is one thing. Match fitness is another. He'll be in soon enough though I think. Get the sense that Enzo is a fan 🥳

I mean, we had two keepers on the bench last game, so... -
Ah thanks Stan. Thought it was later for some reason. That's a big shame, but he probably deserves a rest anyway. Good to hear McAteer's back. Quicker than expected, I think?
-
Fingers crossed!

What makes you say that Bert? Read it was fatigue, which is natural considering the number of games he's played, plus Internationals travel.
-
Good observations, and you're right about their results/form. Bit harsh with the bit in bold though—we weren't great, but part of that is because their game plan worked.
