Bettsj2 Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 I remember Taylor saying when we signed him that his potential was frightening.
The Blur Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 Shame that was Les Ferdinand. Make sense that no one mentioned it before I said something which I thought was odd. Benjamin definitely played a big role in that match- an assist maybe? Just checked BBC Sport report, it was Izzet who provided the assist but it sounded like Benjamin has a good game.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 What was the game where he did some sort of spinerooney dance celebration?
Bettsj2 Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 What was the game where he did some sort of spinerooney dance celebration? Shef Wed away in one of the cups. He did the full spinerooney. Was fvcking laughing all the way home shouting, 'Can you dig it.....SUCKER!!'

Gerard Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 I remember Taylor saying when we signed him that his potential was frightening. For once, Taylor was proved right.
Gerard Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 When we signed him I thought he would be a good buy. 6,2", quick, strong as an ox, young and was scoring goals for Cambridge. After watching him a couple of times, like most of Taylor's signings it was apparent he would never be good enough. If I could see it so quickly why couldn't Taylor? Benjamin was successful at Cambridge because he was quick and strong but his pure footballing ability would even have been sub standard at Cambridge. His physical assets got him by in his career. He should never have been near the Premiership but you can't blame Trevor for that, blame the man that bought him. He always tried his best for our club and you can't ask any more than that. If you click on the link below you'll see his career path and how Leicester was the pinnacle and at 28 he was playing non league football. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trevor_Benjamin What must our "golden generation" had thought when Taylor started buying the likes of Trevor Benjamin, Junior Lewis, etc.
foxoffderby Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 Speaks about what was really a terrible time for our club with the fondness of a man who knows that he was lucky to be there. The fact that Taylor was going to sign him for Gillingham and then still did the deal despite being given the Leicester job tells you all you need to know about the man really - he didn't even change his transfer targets despite being given a great job at an infinitely bigger and better club where the standard was miles above that which he came from. The kind of logic that sees you stick Junior Lewis in next to Izzet and Savage. The fans were great to you Trevor but only because you were a cult hero because you were at times laughably poor. Very interesting to hear that he had doubts about his ability to play at the top level, what clubs would give to know that before splashing the cash... Great post. I never thought of it like that in terms of transfer policy. Going back to TB I watched a lot of him in lower league football and thought he had potential. So was delighted when he signed for Leicester but be didn't quite cut it.

'didn't quite cut it' King of the understatement.
