Just wondered if anyone is starting uni this year and where/what they are studying? I'm off to Manchester to study Anthropology. Unfortunately I've never been to the city itself so I'm just hoping its as good as people have told me. Did anyone else go there?

Ooh excellent! Where did you stay. I think I've got accommodation at somwhere called Hulme Hall

Not far from there...

In the first year I stayed at Cambridge Halls, in the 2nd year I was in Fallowfield (you'll get to know the areas and it's a massive student area along with Didsbury, Withington, rusholme etc) third year was placement year and fourth year stayed at Victoria Halls.

I could easily say Manchester is top banana!

If the company I did my placement for hadn't have been bought out, I would be working and living there now!

Oh is this the famous curry mile? I was told briefly about it when I was travelling and met some people from Manchester.

I'm off to Nottingham Trent to do English, going to wear city shirts as often as possible and even buy a county shirt! My aim for the year is to keep my life.

I lived around the corner from there for a year! :D

I was there for 3 years, lived in Moss Side  for my first, Fallowfield for me second and then Rusholme (the curry mile :) ) for my third.

Such a student city with tons of students. Loadsa cheap places to drink, shop etc. etc. You'll have a great time Sam :D

Live in Fallowfield in your second year ;)

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, when Man City were at Maine Road they used to excellent student tickets, like £8 at the time, and I think they still do student tickets at the COM Stadium.. well worth a watch!

....but of course you would much rather travel 70 odd miles every other weekend back to Leicester and pay 20 odd quid for a ticket to watch Championship football wouldnt you Sam! ;)
