Playing to our strengths?

With Kante once again being the catalyst for a change in mentality and urgency, and Mahrez being a luxuary we absolutely must indulge, would we be better served fielding a five man midfield and sacrificing a 'striker'?

Yes i think so.

High pressing to win the ball back higher up the pitch, Vardy as a central striker with either Okazaki playing just off him deeper with Mahrez wide, or Mahrez himself occupying a central role

Albrighton and Dyer/Mahrez depending on Mahrez being in the number 10 role attacking the far post from a wide starting position.

Kante playing box to box with energy and drive while Inler or Drinkwater sits and distributes the ball.

Thats how id be going from now on personally in a 4-2-3-1

Could play Ulloa up front with Vardy buzzing around him and Mahrez wide?

Mahrez did a lot of damage centrally today

For me we have to play 3412. Was to come back in with Wes and Huth, Kante and DD at CM, Marc and Jeff at wing back, Riyad floating behind Vards plus Shinji or Leo up top. Leo gives us a different option with his height and strength so think he deserves a go.

The best way to use Mahrez is to give him the freedom to find the weak spot and attack. Left, right, central hus effectiveness depends on who we play and how they set up. Albrighton is the opposite he is a structured winger and will do his best work on the flank regardless of who we play.

We have a lot of options at the moment but hard to find the right balance, we have 4 quality forwards, 4 quality midfielders + James to come back, each have their own strengths and weaknesses. Then we have 3 brilliant 'wingers' in Dyer, Mahrez, Albrighton. 12 players that all bring something different to the table and only 6 spots to fill.

That's ignoring the defence which seems settled, but we have players like Fuchs, Was and Benny waiting in the wings and some really talented youth prospects coming through.

Whatever each players individual strengths are we win and lose as a team and that always comes first. Good luck Claudio because I think we have the squad to give him some real options to tinker for each match I just worry the impatient fans will jump on the tinkering every time it doesn't work immediately.

I don't think 4-5-1 would be a bad shout.

Mahrez wide right given even more of a license to be attacking and less defensive responsibility.

A chance to play our best players with a central MF of Inler, Kante and Drinkwater.
