weller54 Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 In recent weeks opposing teams have made substitutions that have changed matches against us.. Benteke.. Liverpool Kane... We need a really quality target man ! Desko off man city ? Might have to wait till summer for him But we Should be looking for a good one !
Fez of Mahrez Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 I saw a stat the other day that we've conceded the most goals to substitutes in the Prem this season.
Guest Col city fan Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 If Rudi Gestede is being considered an 'impact sub' the forum has gone bonkers. Gestede is shite. We don't need an impact sub. We need a first team striker to play alongside either Vardy or Shinji to take some of the pressure off those two. That said, so do all the teams. Getting that second great striker in at a club is always difficult and is what most sides are looking for. I do concur though...bringing on Ulloa to get us goals when we need them is not good enough at this level. He's gone downhill from last season.
StanSP Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 you come across so desperate as if you've forgotten we're top of the league. we're not playing well yet still picking up points. what's that common phrase? 'sign of champions'? (not saying we will be champions or anything because 1) it's way too early and 2) this league is so unpredictable ) but basically stop fvcking panicking and over-thinking things. clutching at straws when you're analysing shit like this.

Claridge Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 To be fair ,de leat came on and caused us problems
weller54 Posted 17 January 2016 Author Posted 17 January 2016 To be fair ,de leat came on and caused us problems Hahaha.. Brilliant!!!
Guest Col city fan Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Fact is he came on, scored and won practically everything in the air!.. He caused us problems! No, Gestede is shite. We caused our own problems yesterday by not killing the game. Score the penno, game over. Gestede or no Gestede.
Jimothy Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 How can Kane be considered an impact sub? He came on during a game where Spurs were playing their second string, they wouldn't normally have that option from the bench. Also the only impact he made was tucking away a dodgy penalty, it's not like he ran us ragid.
weller54 Posted 17 January 2016 Author Posted 17 January 2016 No, Gestede is shite. We caused our own problems yesterday by not killing the game. Score the penno, game over. Gestede or no Gestede. Agree about the pen.. But it DIDN'T go in... Anyway, Gestede is just an example of opposition (striker) substitutions coming on and changing games, which like it or not, he DID yesterday!
Juvenile Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 I would of liked Gray to come on earlier, As everyone mentions Ulloa offers nothing. From looking at updates his first impact was to concede a freekick. Shock. Shinji should be our impact sub once we've brought in Vardys partner.
LAprice_ Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Just like Okazaki changed the game when he was subbed on for us a couple of games ago... Or maybe how we look far more solid when King/Inler come on. Not to mention the likes of Dyer who himself was an impact sub in a Villa game. Personally I think Ranieri has been one of the best managers when it comes to making subs. Villa dominated that second half and yet Remi Garde waited until the final 20 seconds before bringing on Sinclair... Gestede's one and only quality is his heading ability. He's obviously going to come on and win some headers. It's not a big deal. Kane didn't do anything when be was subbed on. He scored a penalty. Wow. Benteke did make a difference but it's worth pointing out that it was a forced sub because of the Origi injury. It's also worth pointing out that it's Liverpool. They have a stupid amount of money. I don't get why so many people are against Ulloa. He's not an "impact sub" in the tradiotional sense. He won't come on and stretch the opposition. He does provide some physicality though. I think the biggest problem he has at the moment is he's being forced into the number 10 role. In my opinion he should be the furthest player forward but that's a position already occupied by Vardy. Vardy and Mahrez have been off the pace for a few weeks and yet they're untouchable. I'd bench Mahrez for a couple of games and let him be the "impact sub", seriously.
Strokes Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 It's like you can't even wait for a defeat, before you all come out of the woodwork.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 I know it's unlikely he'd come here, but Dzeko or someone of that calibre would be ideal.
StanSP Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 It's like you can't even wait for a defeat, before you all come out of the woodwork. this and it's bloody annoying
Kinowe Soorie Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 No, Gestede is shite. We caused our own problems yesterday by not killing the game. Score the penno, game over. Gestede or no Gestede. What does it say about us? Seems to like scoring against us!
weller54 Posted 17 January 2016 Author Posted 17 January 2016 What was all that about yesterday by the way?.. Sinclair coming on with 30 seconds left?... Surely Villa needed to win the game?

DB11 Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 To be fair ,de leat came on and caused us problems No he didn't he was good when he came on Why are you scape goating him?
weller54 Posted 17 January 2016 Author Posted 17 January 2016 Rather Gestede than Ulloa to be honest!!
okie fox Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Gustede looked OK yesterday because Huth had a shocker. Kane is normally a starter and besides his goal was a penalty. Benteke is a very expensive sub.
LAprice_ Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 I'd have a team full of Ulloas ahead of one Rudy Gestede. I can't believe this is even an argument.

I'm not sure scraping a draw at the worst team in the league after going one up is 'the sign of champions'. Even last year Villa away would have been a game we targeted as 3 points. No matter where we are in the table, a draw at the worst quality team is a poor result.

Shit happens. Move on, try not to play like that again.
