crazylegs1984 Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 Leicester fans will be sitting proud after the Leicester vs Newcastle held at the King power where 2 sets of fans had a point to prove , The Leicester loyal wanted to further the gap between them and 2nd place Spurs who bridged the gap to only 2 points and the Newcastle Fans under new management with Rafa Benitez now taking charge wanted to show the premiership they wasn't destined to be relegated. Team line ups showed no difference to the league leaders who named a un-changed squad that has got them in the position they have held onto Fiercely Where as Newcastle line up a attacking team with Mitrovic bought from the bench and Wijnaldum playing behind hoping to provide Mitrovic the killer balls he could put away also bring Lascelles in to strengthen the unsteady back four. The game started fast and strong from visitors with Perez missing the first shot in the game that went wide less then a minute later Mitrovic having a shot blocked and then Colback having another blocked , The visitors came to the King power with intent it would seem. The first 15 minutes seemed like Newcastle had a new breath of life but this was soon to change with Leicester getting to work and Mahrez showing his Magic that has got him into the limelight the tricky winger had a shot blocked on the 18th minute and Steven Taylor conceded a corner with Leicester nearly taking the lead When Huth headed a ball just over. 24th minute came along and Leicester had another set piece with Vardy heading a ball into Okazaki's path who pulled a overhead kick off and nestled the ball into the Newcastle goal but was Vardy offside , Do Newcastle have a right to feel cheated ? The Leicester Loyal was loud and proud in full voice and i'm sure many of them expected to steamroller the competition from now on but Newcastle held on and carried on coming back at a suspect back four of Leicester who are usually a lot more organised and more unified. With the first half half coming to a close Perez had a close shot saved from Schmeichel in the center of the goal. 2nd half started with the same intent no changes from either side with Leicester going for the kill and Newcastle trying to at least level peg but the 2nd half started as many would suspect with Newcastle on the back foot and Leicester going for the jugular with 3 shots from Leicester in the first 10 minutes of the second half but none converting to what really mattered and that's changing the scoreline. 56th minute Newcastle made a change with Townsend coming on for Anita who made little impact in the game maybe looking at Townsend to provide that natural width he can provide. The game hadn't slowed down with Newcastle Still pushing and Perez having another shot blocked and Newcastle gaining some corners but not taking these advantages around the 65th minute Shinji Okazaki came off after providing us with the only goal so far to be replaced with Schlupp who within 5 minutes gives a early contribution from a shot from outside the box which is blocked and taken out for a corner , Newcastle make another substitution Siem De Jong coming on for Perez who had made a pretty good impact in the game. The game which has been end to end since kick off was still going strong and the Leicester loyal must of been pretty nervous that they may concede a goal even more with Doumbia coming on late in the game but failed to make the impact of which many thought he would. The game finished 1-0 to Leicester but it could of been a different story with both teams pretty much sharing possession and although plenty of shots throughout the game only 3 shots registered on target all game with 23 shots in total , and Danny Drinkwater walking with a man of the match award from a excellent midfield display . With both sets of fans looking to make a point to other teams in the premiership its easily said both points was made with Leicester again making that gap further but Newcastle fans can also say they played with a lot more control and passion and was certainly a improvement on previous games but with Sunderland up next for Newcastle can they take the same mentality into a anticipated Derby game and pull away from the bottom 3 and can Leicester carry on with the title chasing form and take a tricky 3 points away from Crystal Palace. Wymsey Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 Lack of capitals and full-stops; if you're expecting people to see it as professionally-made and well thought-out, some effort needs to be put in by not making these errors.

deep blue Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 haha my bad it was only the sample one i uploaded here i was just looking for more info i could of had in it but i'm happy for the criticism it only helps as well And it's "could have had", not "could of had". I'm afraid some of the grammar and phraseology in your piece need some work, which is a shame as it marred a reasonable assessment of the game. Sorry to be negative, but you did ask.
johnny the fox Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 It moved me.. in places I wept.... TBF a very good analysis...
Guest Manini Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 Try and get a shorter intro to the piece, it's called a standfirst in the industry and it goes just below your headline or masthead (if you've got one). It should be one or two lines just introducing the piece, almost like summing up the action before you go in depth. Try and shorten your paragraphs as well, people get put off by reading big chunks of text, and your byline (your name) should go below your standfirst, before your actual body copy stars. Decent first go though, all the main info is in there. Just try and work on your editorial if you want to progress more. ** don't be afraid of commas either..break up some of those long sentences.

WesMorganGod Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 Good read, and very true to the game, needs more mention of Morgan, but other than that it's a good read on the match. Forget the spelling, you're not publishing it for The Guardian.
