Football League Clubs To Offer Free In-Stadium Wi-Fi

Football clubs in the English Championship, League One and League Two will soon offer free Wi-Fi to fans in the stadium.

So it should make getting online a lot easier, as typically phone networks die at halftime when hordes of fans try to log on at once.

However, the Wi-Fi will only let you use official apps and services. These will include club-branded apps for news, social media content, highlights and betting.

 

So you won't be able to browse generally using the club's Wi-Fi.

The English Football League says the majority of clubs have signed up to participate in the deal. It will announce a full list of clubs after June 30.

Football clubs' apps will be available for iOS and Android, and will be free to download, according to the Football League.

The in-stadium Wi-Fi technology will be provided by intechnologyWiFi.

"I am absolutely delighted to welcome intechnologyWiFi to working with the Football League and its clubs," said Shaun Harvey, chief executive of The Football League.

"Once again, The Football League is leading the way with regard to delivering digital solutions to its member clubs, so that they can enhance the supporter experience at their matches.

"The fact that intechnologyWiFi is able to deliver this solution at no cost, while also facilitating new revenue streams for our clubs, made this a compelling proposition."
