Similar problems here... although I *have* been working (perhaps not hard enough?), but somehow the work hasn't translated into "demonstrable" results as much as I was hoping

Matt Posted 16 September 2005 Posted 16 September 2005 I found Corsework quite good, as I have made it well known school did nothing for me, I was considered "thick" because I didn't seem to learn that much and in exams I did shit (However the people who called me thick are now fuking there future up because they ain't got a clue what they want to do in the future - At least I have always had a plan). Coursework is where I got most of my marks and grades because I did struggle learning and I do take longer than others to learn things but in exams I do shit, and my Grandma one of the brightest people I know said herself she didn't do well and did rubbish in exams, which is why I don't think people futures should lie on a few exam grades to get a place in college/uni or even get a certificate to pass something you need for your job. I found Corsework much better than exams because at least in coursework yes you have deadlines to meet but you could have time to do coursework - not 2 hours in an exam hall when and after the 2 hours thats it! And while we're at it I hate WBE (Work Based Evidence) for college to pass the apprenticeship and to get our NVQ we have to take pictures of our work, and there are certain things we have to take pictures of, such as Window Frames, Stairs, Doors we have to take pictures of our Setting Out(i.e - Drawings) Marking Out(Where to cut to/where to chisel mortise and tenons, e.t.c) and then Construction - Thats abit hard when not every work placement can pick and choose what work they are given! Especially in Shopfitting when you don't tend to do Window Frames/Staircases and Doors. College (And everyone who has read the other thread knows what a cock up my college is) want at least 2 pieces of WBE every week up to Christmas

Exams are sooooooo easy. Instead there was some course work and I got a 2:1 instead.

You just don't do homework on a Friday Or Saturday for that matter. The day before it's due in is the way forwards, I did my whole Geography A Level project the day before it was due in, all night before and stuff and I gorra B

Hitesh Posted 17 September 2005 Posted 17 September 2005 I loved coursework! It was really easy to get a good grades! The only reason i did well in my A Levels was because of my Coursework! Last year, all my 3 units in IT were coursework and i got and A. In AS level i had 2 units coursework and i had one A and a B for it and in my exam i got an E! And this was the same in a few of my other subjects! I got A's and B;s in my c/w in all my other subjects and didnt do to well in the exam!

My mate used a cereal box and peanuts to create a marketing peice of c/w for media! He handed it in and the teacher looked at him and the look was like WTF is that! My mate did a presentation on it and everything! Blagged his way throught it all, but got a U in the end!
TrickyTrev Posted 17 September 2005 Posted 17 September 2005 Exams are a lot easier. Everyone gets so much help with coursework and puts loads of effort in so to get a good grade you have to do the same.
