Jace Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 The squirrel at QPR, ever since that happened I knew big things were about to come
Vlad the Fox Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 Brian Little, back in the 90s. Relegation to league 1 was just a blip. I have often thought this. When he came through the door he turned the club round from 10,000 gates to 18,000/20,000, and set in motion the momentum that led to O'Neil's reign, which in turn raised the profile and set a new modern benchmark for the club, the building of the stadium and further increase in gate. All raising the profile further, we had the blip but awareness of our recent past, stadium and potential led to the owners buying in and their substantial investment and building of the club that followed. I know someone who works down the club and when Top and Vichai first came and everyone was panicking about them walking out if we missed promotion I asked them about their plans, I was told they are great people and they're here for the long haul, the debt pay off was nothing to them and they wanted success. I was convinced then that things were going to take off for us.

shailen Posted 20 June 2016 Posted 20 June 2016 As others have mentioned, it was that Watford game. The way we lost it was the worst possible way for any team to lose a game, and we used that game to grow stronger, have more desire and togetherness. It also taught us a valuable lesson in that it is never over till its over. For the championship winning season, the players seemed hungry and with the improvement in Vardy and Drinkwaters form in particular amongst others we raced to the league title whilst playing some wonderful football. Fast forward to our first PL season, and where most teams would have given up with 9 games go go, our players had been through the dramatics of football and knew it wasn't over. All season we had played well, but that West Ham game we finally got the little bit of luck we required and used the momentum and confidence to grow and complete the great escape. This season we have been riding on the same momentum and confidence, however in Kante we have found a midfielder who can control the game and turn defence into attack do quickly. Add to that something I think most people have overlooked is Vardy finishing a high proportion of his chances. Even last season he got loads of chances but his inability to finish was the main weak point but it's something which is now a strength of his. Mahrez under Ranieri has more license to roam and his influence has been greater therefore. Drinkwater is honestly the closest English player I've seen to Scholes in terms of his range of passing, shooting ability and footballing brain. He has stepped up this season too. All in all, the Watford game from the lowest of the lows, taught us the cruel reality of football and with the same core of that team we have progressed and worked harder to never feel the same feeling again. This has spilled over to over great escape last year, and with that momentum and confidence coupled with improvement in quality we have done something remarkable.
Loggy88 Posted 20 June 2016 Posted 20 June 2016 I think the play off defeat at Watford was the turning point, a lot of teams would of gone downhill from there, but we just came back better and stronger, and we have never looked back.
MonmoreStef Posted 20 June 2016 Posted 20 June 2016 The Watford game for me as well. Interestingly Brentford had the same thing happen to them that season with a missed Pen and a goal up the other end costing them promotion and they've also done brilliant since.
