National Team Managers

The impending news is that Sam Allardyce is set to be named our new manager. I couldn't be happier about this. He is the best English manager available at the minute (Although that is slightly depressing).

 

Rumour has it though, that he is only 2nd choice in the eyes of the FA, behind Frenchman Arsene Wenger. But i believe that as you have to be English to play for England, you should also have to be English to manage the country.

 

I think international football should be a showcase for each countries talents throughout the entire team set up, from players to managers and other backroom staff. Am i alone in thinking this?

as long as we have the talent available, English mangers are becoming less and less and while everyone agrees it is best to have an English manager they also want the best person for the job.we have tried English and foreign managers but what remains the same is the constant pressure from the media and fans

Quality English managers are going the way of Scottish managers - oblivion?

 

With so many players now able to almost pick their country of choice, well it seems like it then it's hardly a showcase of the countries talent anymore.

Quality English players are becoming increasingly sparce too, thats why we have all this emphasis on grassroots football. perhaps the same sort of thing needs doing with coaches at grassroots to encourage more high quality English coaches.

Should they be? YES!  So should the players and the coach and phsyio and they should play their home games in that country because they are representing that nation.

 

Do they have to be? No, it is not always practical or possible, but I would rather see Big Sam representing this country than Klinsmann.

Technically, players only have to be living in England for so many years to qualify to play for the national team (i think its 5 years). So Wenger could also qualify under the same rule.

 

I get your point though, and i think it depends. Personally i'm glag big sam got the gig but you could argue that Wenger knows just as much about English football.

The players have to be from that Country (well, at least have a connection with the country via family) so it makes sense that any country can select any manager. I dunno really.
