Signed Shirt Help

Recommended Posts

Fellow Foxes Fans,

I wonder if you can help me. I have received a signed shirt from an older relative. However I am a little suspicious about the authenticity. Even though its came with a 'certificate of authenticity', which looks a bit phoney to me. I know theres a lot of fakes about!!

Its been a long time since I got an autograph, especially from the current group.

I was wondering if anyone could have a look and say whether it looks legit to you or not. Im not so sure.

The ones I recognise the most (Danny Simpson, Andy King and Jamie Vardy) all look similar but a bit off to others I've seen.

Honesty is welcomed, I wont be offended.

Thanks in advance!

I have a few signed bits and can clearly make out Vardys and would need to look at my shirts to see more. Have you got a picture of the authentication certificate? I've got one from the club that I can compare by memory but it's locked behind a framed shirt.

These are the only ones I can seems to guess.

There's a few I'm not sure on after searching them?

The one at the bottom which I've guessed as Nathan Dyer, never seen one like that before on any of our stuff. And his looks different elsewhere.

Also the one at the top. Looks like the name Ben. But Ben Chilwells looks different elsewhere.

Simpsons doesn't look as smooth as elsewhere.

Maybe I'm looking into it too much?

What do you guys think? And does anyone recognise any others?

Cheers

Edit- will add a copy of the certificate of authenticity tomorrow. But it's certainly not direct from the club!

I've got a couple of signed shirts(2010/2011 and the champ winning side that i got signed myself outside the ground)The Vardy one on your's does look to be a little bigger than i've seen it before....but if it was a sit down signing and having time before the next person wanted him to do it i can see it.From a gut instinct i'd say it was genuine.Too many places where the pen goes down....dots to be a printed one.(go on ebay and look at lcfc autographs to get an idea of the rest);)

What company issued the COA?  Most of them are just a useless piece of paper, but if it was issued by a well respected company it might give more credence.

Sorry to tell you but it looks fake to me. I'd say I'm 99.9% sure. After we won the league a lot of these shirts suddenly appeared online especially ebay, all with the silver pen.

Sorry to be the barer of bad news but I'm 100% sure its fake, all the signatures will look like the players signatures but theres more to it than that. The reason why I'm certain its a fake is because you can tell every signature has been done by the same person, size of the writing pressure of the ink, placement too tidy etc. shame really because thats quite a decent Thai replica of last seasons shirt and would be worth quite a bit if it didn't have all those signatures on it. Other little clues are details in the signature, for example several players put there numbers by their names Jamie Vardy is a good example, who ever has forged these is obviously not aware of this and if you look at Vardys signature for example they've just interpreted the 9 to be some squiggle to the side. These certificates that you can buy off eBay saying that a shirt is genuine are not worth the paper they are written on, the only certificates you can take as genuine are the ones issued by the football club itself these are usually donated to charities. DJFoxes your shirt looks genuine to me

Doubt they would have tried to copy the signatures themselves that would take some doing, most fakes are done with autopens.

Always makes me laugh people selling these signed shirts on ebay, every week they have some fully signed shirt, often from a top club(s), do you know how long that takes and the cost involved?  They would have to charge many hundreds of pounds yet often sell them for not much more than the price of the shirt.

Avoid ebay, most coa's are worthless, if your selling a fake signature you can fake a coa.

Research top companies with ties to legitimate COA companies. And phone the companies up direct not the seller.

If you really want to know and cant find info about the seller of the shirt, ask a reputable third party authenticators to examine the signatures.

How would it take some doing? All you have to do is pick up a pen and attempt to copy it? As we can see with this shirt not very well

Its pretty hard to come close to a signature without a lot of practice, autopens are what fakers use.
