In football never settle for what you have, teams constantly evolve. Always strive to improve the team and if you get an offer for squad players that probably are at their high point then sell them. Speaking as a "squealer" myself, at the time I wasn't so concerned about losing title winning players as much as losing them before developing a proven alternative. IIRC the Ulloa transfer was set to occur before Slimani had been signed. As an obvious upgrade I think with hindsight it would have been safe to release Ulloa. As for Shlupp, I honestly don't think you can compare his performances this season with those in the past. I don't know what's happened to him, perhaps lingering injury effects, or maybe he's pissed that we didn't let him go, but he isn't the player he was. He genuinely offered something different, a combination of strength, speed and unpredictability that proved useful on several occasions, coupled with youth that may have lead to future improvement. Unfortuneately I have to agree that with hindsight his retention is probably causing more problems that it is solving, though I'm still not convinced that Musa is a better alternative to an "in form" Jeff.

The point is just because we are in Champions league lets not judge the manger and give him a job for life regardless were we end up, I dont think or want him sacked, but i also dont want to watch the team play at 40 percent of their capabilities
MattCan Posted 17 October 2016 Posted 17 October 2016 Ranieri knows what he is doing and the owners worship him.
lee7 Posted 17 October 2016 Posted 17 October 2016 The players Ranieri brought in has geared us up to becoming a long ball team incapable of stringing 15 passes together. For me in the summer he should've went the opposite way and brought in players who are comfortable on the ball and keeping possession. We have a few who are comfortable on the ball when under pressure such as Drinky, Mahrez, Fuchs, Mendy and even Gray when he plays but that's about it. The rest of them all panick and treat the ball like a hot potato. Last season we nearly always had less possession than our opponents and that was with Kante who was crucial to retaining the ball, so when he left we should've brought in players who would enable us to keep the ball a lot lot better. Currently it's hard watching us string 3/4 passes together and losing the ball because we are constantly getting punished.

What comes after ...pushing on nice but not heartbreaking. We are not, even with Thai rather rich owners set up to do a Chelsea or Man.city. We hoped our players from last season, still would keep that adrennilin, that spirit n fight levels up, We the fans were too expectant and a bit offtrack. We never had a group of players that had a permanent, MUST-Win era within their genes. We dreamed we saw, we enjoyed, this group of ours upset the odds, on pure highs of fight, spirit, group character with some Skill, and incredible pace. They simply dont have another such season in them, it hurts but I really believe, they havent Imploded physically but mentally . Tell that to the forest fans that get mocked for living in the past, we had/have a golden opportunity to push on with all the finance available probably the best the club will ever have. one window has closed and if you were a top player, maybe you would have your doubts about joining given our current form continues in the next. I hope the club push on and cement their place in the division as a top 10 club, i just dont think CR should be bulletproof when it comes to criticism regarding his performances and how dynamically he changes things. you win the league your king Claudio 4 months later we are showing relegation form away, i think people are aloud to ask why and what is the catalyst for the sudden loss of form.
