Spot on mate, Echo my thoughts on the season perfectly, but more succinctly

Ted Maul Posted 17 October 2016 Posted 17 October 2016 Agree with the majority of that. However, if our laboured style in the league this season is a tactic to conserve energy, why not rest the players completely and use it as an opportunity to blood some youngsters through? We have, potentially, 3 of the most talented kids in the league not getting a look-in. I'd rather see what they can do than watch the established players jog around as another big club waltzes through our team at will.

We'd be mullered against those teams we've played if be played the young'uns. It wouldn't do them any good, and Raineri would be lynched for 'throwing the games' both by the fans, media, and possibly the FA.
WigstonWanderer Posted 17 October 2016 Posted 17 October 2016 Nice one, good read. Always good to get a level headed view to calm the nerves.

I take your point, but we've been mullered in the games in question anyway Gray has been good in his cameo appearances- I think he's ready to come in when we need to give Mahrez or Albrighton a rest. You could be right on the others though, we could probably get away with throwing some into a winning side, but coming in to play in 4-1 losses wouldn't be great for their development. I'm just struggling to think of a solution to our current problems. It's obvious that our best players aren't going to win these games putting 75% effort in, so we need to do something differently. I'm hoping we turn Copenhagen over so we can ease off in the CL and not have to go on like this every week until December!

We turned down the gears last year when we needed to, as there was no way we could continue at the relentless pace we were cranked up to, so we changed tactics after Christmas, and did so for a couple of months. Whilst we have a bit more depth this season, it's obvious that we can't blaze on all fronts. We are more ourselves and playing good football in Europe. Once that's sorted (fingers crossed), then we can get back to business. We'll no doubt ease off again in January, with the loss of our AFCON players, but hopefully at that point we'll have used the transfer window to boost where we are lacking. With any luck our AFCON players, primarily Mahrez/ Slimani will come back unscathed but having had a good tournament, and we roll on the Premiership campaign, and see where our European adventure takes us.
simFox Posted 17 October 2016 Posted 17 October 2016 Yet schmichael felt the need to report "clear the air talks", what ever they are. Clearly he feels the recent performances need resolving through dialogue, which puts pay to them ever being part of a plan. A drubbing is never part of any kind of plan, but kudos to the blue tinted specs. You are right regarding our lack of options and state of play/players and formation. What we need is a plan to get us out of the fix, it's bad preparation and planning that has left us in a pickle. The stronger teams are better at exposing us for it.

It's been covered in other threads. A clear the air dialogue isn't a crisis conversation. It could simply be a gee up for individual mistakes that have been made. There's no blue specs mate, I'm happy to be critical, but the blog post I made wasn't about that.
