Key Remaining Fixtures

Swansea (A) 12th Feb D1-1

Hull (H) 4th Mar D0-0

Sunderland (H) 4th Apr W1-0

Palace (A) 15th Apr W2-1

Bournemouth (H) 21st May W2-1

Five absolute must win games between now and the end of the season against teams right down there with us. Lose against Swansea, and Ranieri is certainly finished. Couple that with defeat to Hull, and you may very well extend that to the team, regardless of who's in the dugout. Yet the reverse may also apply. Four points or more in the next two leaves the tiniest chink of daylight between us and the rest. We must now prioritise obtaining no less than 7 from the home games in this sequence and perhaps four from the two away games. Swansea will be tough indeed, but Palace look just about the only team in the PL who are consistently worse than us and the atmosphere at Selhurst is turning toxic.

11 points from 15 in these fixtures puts us on 32.

Liverpool (H) 27th Feb L0-1

West Ham (A) 18th Mar D1-1

Stoke (H) 1st Apr W2-1

West Brom (A) 29th Apr L1-2

Watford (H) 6th May D1-1

Next round of fixtures are the games that are nominally winnable, but may be termed bonus games. Liverpool are in a terrible run of form at the moment, and it may be interesting on 27th Feb if they have yet to snap out of it. West Ham's problems at the London Stadium are very well documented, and it certainly isn't Upton Park, which may suit us in seeking a result. Stoke will most likely have little to play for by April, and the same could be said of Watford and West Brom. Five points from these five games in addition to the 32 hypothetical points puts us on 37.

Arsenal (A) 11th Mar L0-3

Everton (A) 8th Apr D1-1

Spurs (H) 22nd Apr L1-3

Manchester City (A) 13th May L0-2

These may accurately be termed 'bonus games' from which we can realistically expect very little. Certainly our performances thus far indicate we'll achieve little more than morale sapping defeats, but there may be some points there if we have a dead cat/new manager bounce at some stage between now and the end. Spurs' famously fragile mentality could affect them by the close of the season, Manchester City may well be out of the title race, Everton may have little to play for and Arsenal can just as easily be terrible as they can be unplayable. Little is expected from these fixtures, and a single point from these four games would put us on a hypothetical 38 points.

The question now is whether 38 points would be enough. I feel I've been on the slightly optimistic side of realism, and I still am not sure if it's going to be escapeable. It certainly doesn't look it on present form, and much of these suppositions are based on us raising our game at some stage and pulling off a great result - something we've achieved on only a handful of occasions this season at Tottenham, Stoke and at home against Manchester City.

Are we doomed, or are we simply at the darkest hour before the dawn?

We aren't doomed yet. The one thing that's worrying me is the fight in the team. Great escape season I never lost hope because we fought and we never got smashed, but this year we're just rolling over too easily. To go to selhurst Park and win we need some grit, and Sunderland aren't going to come here and give us an easy game... Like you said, there are points available, they're there for us to take, but we need to go into a game and stop believing our own hype. I think as soon as that happens we can get those points. COYB

I hate these kind of threads with the predictions - I know some games can look 'winnable' but **** this mentality, if last season is anything to prove, every game can become winnable.

We slate the players for accepting defeat too easy, so maybe we shouldn't be slating them for accepting defeat after 40 mins today against United!!??

We have 14 games left and in dire need of an improvement and points! Let's not try and bank on these 'winnable' games and get some points on the board to save our premier league status! We won the league last season through pure class, these players are more than capable of turning things around!

No way we pick up a point at West ham or Everton IMO. Our away form is absolutely horrendous. As ever safety is in our own hands, beat the teams around us and we stay up. My concern is we don't even look like scoring let alone beating anyone.

To be honest I wouldn't really pay much attention to 'key' fixtures because more often than not you end up winning the matches that you would imagine you had no chance of winning.

All matches are winnable from now until the end of the season but only if changes get made and soon.

Nobody and I mean Nobody can predict how this season will end

Haven't you ever tried Super 6

And the way we're playing I can't really see a win again this season

But I thought that in 2015 and we all know what happened then

One hell of a season? Wtf planet are u from? Yeah relegation from champions to god knows where, what a hell of a season that is. Woo, I'm loving this ride!  Anyone would think this is child's play on a flipping PS4. This is real, and it threaten to wipe Leicester from the map as far as football concerned. But as long as we enjoy the ride....
