Matt Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 So in the past few weeks we've heard from Huth, Simpson, Mahrez, Drinkwater, Schmeichel and i've came back with the stock reply 'Talk is cheap.' But I wanna hear from someone, someone who I think it one of the key problems, someone who I think is underperforming and underachieving, someone who is meant to be an 'inspiration' to our team, a 'big voice', a 'leader', Wes Morgan. When is he going to do a live TV interview or radio interview even and tell us his version of bullshit? Did I read on here (Could be rumour) that he refused to do an interview with Sky last week? (Is that even 'allowed'?). Come on leader, Mr Inspirational, feed us the bullshit! Schmeichel's spoke the most frankly, honestly, passionately and personally to the fans in recent weeks. He's been the spokesperson if you like, not someone who is supposed to be the club captain.

He went down in my opinion when after that hammering in Porto he was the first player down the tunnel rather than acknowledge the expense the majority of that away end paid out. In this run of poor form, we haven't heard anything from him.
burleighfox Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 Setting a really poor example of how to be a good captain at the minute. Really shouldn't be in the side anyway at the moment but seeing as he is, he needs to have been showing better leadership qualities the past few weeks but I've seen nothing of the sort. Time for a new skipper.
midland_red Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 Schmeichel should be captain in my opinion. Oh..and making the change would be putting down a marker, as would dropping Vardy
FLAN Posted 18 February 2017 Posted 18 February 2017 Saw pics of some of today's non playing squad in the crowd today. Any sign of the captain?
Hawk17 Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 Schmeichel screams captain, with the way he has behaved and approached our current situation its getting beyond embarrassing that he isn't at the expense of bloody wes morgan

Hawk17 Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 Just now, WigstonWanderer said: Perhaps he wouldn't want to be captain Well I guess only Kasper knows the answer to that one, but he certainly is behaving like a true leader in a time where we need them badly. Certainly can't say the same for Wes to put it mildly....
Babylon Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 Here we go again. Massively overrating also the role of captains in today's game. Being captain of the players doesn't mean you have to be a good spokesperson. Funny how he's always a bad captain when we lose a few, but not a good one when we get promoted, stay up and win the league.

I'm not a player nor do I know any of them, so I won't pretend to know whether or not he's liked by the players. But I can only go by what I see watching the games and if Kasper's not liked by the players perhaps its because unlike most of the players he actually seems to give a shit about how badly we're playing at the moment and isn't just turning up to pick up his wages. A few weeks ago it was only him and Gray staying on the pitch to thank fans while the rest ****ed off to the dressing room as quick as they could. One of the few games where we actually played quite decently this year was the 2-2 comeback game against Stoke, and Kasper was the one calming everyone including our coach down and ensuring level heads were kept and according to newspaper reports addressing the rest of the squad at half time as well. I can't think of any example of Wes Morgan demonstrating leadership like that? But hey its just my two cents and perhaps Wes has and I've just missed it.
Babylon Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 Clapping fans is captain material... we going there, really?

No we're not remotely because that isn't what I've said. The point of mentioning him and Gray doing that and the rest of the team ****ing off as quick as they possibly could was that they obviously give a shit about how bad we are at the moment, which is more than can be said for most of the other guys. However his actions in the Stoke game and his performances in the media are absolutely captain material if a change from Morgan was to be made.

No surprise though is it, he's not turned up for months now has he?! Maybe someone should put some missing posters up around the City (Among other players).
crsleicester Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 Wes isn't Captain material, it's just a hangover from Nigel's era. Wes is not articulate enough to talk to the cameras to be honest. We, er, just er dug in and er got the point isn't captivating enough to be fair!
