Sunderland looked the team that was making the game...but hasnt that been our story for 3 seasons. Yes the 1st half performance was below, the expectations we have suddenly come to be accustomed. Gray, Fuchs and Mahrez, had a few good runs, that produced chances where shots were taken. With more fortune, Gray could of had a couple. The pressing generally was not working,Okazaki was out of step both Ndid and Drinkwater, were well off their covering game. The defence though held their ground, and only a couple of chances were squeezed out. Gray being greedy..!! ?. I have mentioned before, I reckon Shakey and the team themselves have given him carte blanche to go for it. I saw Vardy once shown he was disappointed, then rest of the half, he and others were smiling and actually applauding his runs and shots. Before January we were crap, and turgid.Tuesday we still had a few good moves. Ask yourself this which GK was diving around more..Even though our midfield was giving too much ground. No honestly, we were crap.

Either push is unfair by the letter of the law. Laws are pretty useless if they cannot be enforced consistently even in a simple game of sport. Apologies for being particularly argumentative today. Dont apologise, this is a discussion, not an argument. I will say that if all contact gets punished in that way, football will become like basketball, completely non contact. We need to see crunching tackles and shoulder barges and jostling in the box. it's a physical game. unless its a WWE style take down, it should be allowed

Two players jumping fairly for the ball and getting in contact should be tolerated. One player trying to gain an unfair advantage over the other should not, surely? What Slimani did is what pundits call being 'clever' or 'bending the rules' (the commentator actually called it "good play" or something to that effect. I couldn't figure out if it was tongue in cheek), but really it's just cheating. Some challenges are weirdly accepted while others are not, and it seems wholly dependant on subjective opinion.

I see what your saying, but if the defender was a little stronger, as he should have been , Slim would have had no advantage. (who was the defender?) should have been less of a wet lettuce and stood his ground. Slim was being cute but it has happened against us, I just see it as part of the game, it's not as bad a blatant dive for a pen (cough vardy)

Should he not have jumped and tried to reach the ball before the attacker? It's no different from the classic stepping on the feet of an opponent at a set piece or tugging a shirt at the right time to gain an unfair advantage. It doesn't really matter how strong you are, anyone player ccould push another player off balance in the Slimani/Koné situation. Look at the replay and look how Slimani and the defender are occupying the space where the ball is going to land. Both are about to jump, seemingly in good balance, but the defender lands clumsily like a yard away which clearly indicates he was put off balance by the push, because Slimani was 'cute'/clever and did it at the crucial moment.

I just watched it back, I see even less in it now, 6 of one and half a dozen of the other as my nan would have said, the defender tried to win a free kick and Slimani tried to push him, neither of the players succeeded as the defender was already on his way when slimani touched him. IMO. I think this is where we agree to disagree mate that's football and we haven't got enough beer to carry on
