The Guvnor Posted 5 April 2017 Posted 5 April 2017 Vardy's goal was quite simply World Class, and Albrighton who has been unfairly criticised on many occasions IMO on FT was sensational.
M0901 Posted 5 April 2017 Posted 5 April 2017 I couldn't watch the game as i was playing in a match myself, saying Albrighton had such a short cameo, and he notched up two assists, it's amazing how much people have raved about him in what time he had on the pitch. Fantastic to hear!

"Leicester could go on to do decent things in the future but they'll always be known for that one season. Like a one hit wonder of a band. Not known for their history, players, managers or fan-base just one spectacular season. I'd rather be us." Rather be Sunderland because otherwise you'll be forever known for winning the Premier League. Blimey. Which is hilarious considering people know Sunderland for a single FA Cup win in the 1970s. They had the audacity to cheer the attendance as though it was belittling us some how. The only reason it wasn't a full sell out was because they didn't sell their away end out. I think the next line our PA announcer said was see you here for a Champions League quarter-final......

The pace we exploited a mistake, the pinpoint accuracy of Albrighton's low cross and what a touch and finish on Vardy's "wrong" foot. Devastating. You forgot to mention the image of Billy Jones attempting to chase down Albrighton; making that sort of sprint you'd do holding in a dump or piss after a night on the razz
foxy boxing Posted 5 April 2017 Posted 5 April 2017 First half wasn't great but the second half was a real improvement and both substitutions made a difference with Albrighton making a big difference, yes Gray deserved his chance to start but Albrighton showed what a great crosser of the ball he can be. so the winning run under Shakes goes on I mean even the great bard himself couldn't have written a better script. good to see Vardy continuing his recent great scoring run and what a great goal. the players seem to be more relaxed and together under shakes and he has managed to galvanise the team and got them working so just needs to keep up the good work for the rest of the season

In which case he deserves his party. Thanks JV
Beliall Posted 5 April 2017 Posted 5 April 2017 Watch Vardy's goal again, Albrighton falls over as he makes the pass, then celebrates on the deck like "worth it" Credit to Vardy for running straight to him for the assist

lcfc278 Posted 5 April 2017 Posted 5 April 2017 I for one didn't see a goal coming last night. The way Sunderland were set-up I thought it was going to be one of those nights. But what an inspired double sub by Shaky. Albrighton looked wired as he was warming up in front of us and made an instant impact, the lad looked like he was possessed and was gunning for the ball. Great performance and completely changed the outlook of that game and got us the 3 points.
Parafox Posted 5 April 2017 Posted 5 April 2017 Pleased for Slimani to get a goal but it did look like a shove on the defender. Crap game from both teams until the subs and Marco van Albrighton made all the difference. Otherwise I suspect we'd have only got a point. I can see why Sunderland are where they are. And to think Moyes was once Man U manager.

AyewJoking Posted 5 April 2017 Posted 5 April 2017 working last night and vaguely heard radio in the background sunderland 2-0 at leicester and was hurting inside. end of the shift find out it was actually 2-0 leicester........ (antonio banderas gif)
yorkie1999 Posted 5 April 2017 Posted 5 April 2017 1st half was a bit crap as all sunderland seemed to do was try and spoil the flow. Every free kick they gave away their player would pick the ball up and jog away with it. Bottom of the league, 8 points off safety with 8 games left and playing delay tactics, trying not to lose instead of trying to win is ridiculous and will surely see them relegated.

We were not great at all first half, but that Sunderland squad absolutely deserve to go down. Which is a shame as I do have a weird soft spot for the club.
Max Power Posted 5 April 2017 Posted 5 April 2017 Is Drinkwater carrying an injury? Maybe there was more to that England squad pullout, he has looked well off it two games in a row. Defo top of my list for a rest on Sunday. Scrappy game, fairly disjointed performance until the subs freshened it up. Albrighton has been SUPERB since Shakespeare took over. I know Cattermole is a bit of a meme on here due to one poster's hilarious football opinions, but Jesus Christ he is sooooo bad. He can't run. He can't pass. He can barely foul anymore (although he still tries - thug). Just stands there with his pulled up shorts and points.

Apparently that pointing is very important to them. they have been missing it whilst he has been out! and they wilted noticeably second half when his fitness dropped off after about 55 mins.
ge12 Posted 5 April 2017 Posted 5 April 2017 As other have said, without doubt our worst performance under Shakey so far, however to still come out with a fairly comfortable win, albeit against Sunderland, is encouraging. Thought they actually set up quite well and made it difficult for us whilst also getting themselves into some dangerous positions just a lack of quality or getting caught offside at crucial times cost them. I was a bit concerned with how many freekicks we seemed to give away around our box, although they never created a serious chance from any of them that I can remember which is again good to see considering how we were defending set pieces earlier in the season. Albrighton was magic when he came on, must be his best performance in a City shirt, I certainly can’t think of any better. Slimani did well too, maybe a hint of a shove for his goal but don’t think it was a foul and the defender should have definitely been a lot stronger, if it had been the other way round I would have pointed the finger at the Huth/Morgan/YB rather than the referee. Both Mahrez and Gray were guilty of some poor decision making when in good positions at times which was frustrating and agree with others that said Drinky looked slightly off the pace somewhat, he would be one I would definitely rest on Sunday. Okazaki had a bit of a mare also but seeing as he’s been playing so well recently I’ll put it down to just one of those days for him. Solid result, into the top half, and a cracking Vardy goal to go with, happy days.
dynamark Posted 5 April 2017 Posted 5 April 2017 King for drinky on sunday for sure.Probabaly rest Okazaki as well maybe for Slim or Ulloa. The rest all look Ok for starting but 60 minute subs please . Everton aren't that good Barclay probably be sent off under the totting up procedure!
Harry96 Posted 5 April 2017 Posted 5 April 2017 That Vardy goal was so good, it's the way he took it so quickly didn't even have to think about it.
ozleicester Posted 5 April 2017 Posted 5 April 2017 just saw highlights of the goals... MA was inch perfect and his run for the 2nd amazing.
Corky Posted 5 April 2017 Posted 5 April 2017 The first hour was really poor, we looked disjointed and nervous on the ball, the substitutions gave us impetus and combining Slimani and Albrighton helped hugely, we can cross the ball in and that lead to the opening goal. The second was fantastic, great chasing and ball across from Albrighton, Vardy's touch and finish exceptional. Saw out the final 10 comfortably but a great game and performance it wasn't. However, the points were the crucial thing and six plus two clean sheets from these two matches was what was required ahead of the away run. Still need points to be mathematically sure but given where we were both on and off the pitch six weeks ago it is some turnaround. Need a strong end to the season now.

Ok a get that they won something in the olden days but who are these managers and players the are known for?.As for their fan base meh!Slightly above us but below Newcastle,Villa etc.
MattyFromLE Posted 5 April 2017 Posted 5 April 2017 Had we have been playing a better team we'd have struggled. We looked a little careless, jaded and tired. However. We ground it out. 2 great goals. Albrighton is such an underrated player.
