STUHILL Posted 4 April 2017 Posted 4 April 2017 Thank you to the owners for making a brave decision, knowing they would take a lot of heat for it. Justified.

I don't think you can overstate how good vardy's goal was, that ball was fizzed to him by albrighton, he kills it dead and thwacks it into the top corner with his weaker foot, fantastic strike I cant stop watching it. one of the best goals I've seen I can't stop watching Filbert freaking out behind goal. Lovely.

The pace we exploited a mistake, the pinpoint accuracy of Albrighton's low cross and what a touch and finish on Vardy's "wrong" foot. Devastating.

Doesn't look a happy chap. He was right in front of me when he scored and he looked pretty ****ing pumped tbh.
brucey Posted 4 April 2017 Posted 4 April 2017 West Bromwich Albion, we're coming for you! Is this the first time all season we've had more possession than the opposition?
brucey Posted 4 April 2017 Posted 4 April 2017 I like how everyone (staff + players) is acknowledging that our performance today wasn't great despite the win. So refreshing compared to what came previously, heaping praise on shit performances despite limp losses
UPinCarolina Posted 4 April 2017 Posted 4 April 2017 YB29 is to 2017 what Shinji was to 2016. Cult hero?

We need to sit him down in the summer and ask him what his vision is to take the club forward. If he's got one I think the job's his. May be at first doing something to make players want to stay in LCFC next season ? i mean key players Vardy, Mahrez.
maddog Posted 4 April 2017 Posted 4 April 2017 Well I was right about us beating Sunderland in second gear, really bad 1st half and against a decent team we would probably have been 1/2-0 down at the break. Still things are going well, the subs I called for in the stand happened. Then I said Albrighton cross, Slimani header 1-0 now. That then happened, engage smug mode. Mahrez was on the beach tonight. One of the worst performances I've seen from him ever.
Koke Posted 4 April 2017 Posted 4 April 2017 More amazed that Sunderland have only collected 1 pathetic point, which was a dour 0-0 draw with Burnley.

Honestly had Sunderland came away with all 3 points we probably couldn't complain. Fair play to Shakespeare though, the subs changed the game with Albrighton surely putting in the best 35 minutes from any player in any game this season. He turned the game on it's head (and Slim's head!) big time. Even King was good when he came on. Despite an underpar performance for most of it, there are a lot of positives to take from the game: We won despite not playing well. (Pressure of this game may have got to the team a little). Kept another clean sheet. Benny had another good game. He is now a worthy squad player for the club. Wilfred Ndidi was an absolute monster. He's great at breaking up play, but today he was one of the best users of the ball on the pitch. Players like Grey and Mahrez were using him for give and go's. This is an element of his game he can improve on, but he definitely improved on it in this game and showed glimpses he can become an all round player. Very exciting seeing this player on the rise. Albrighton and Slimani combination looks like a great "Plan B." We should really try a more direct / crossing style game with Slmani up top for one game (maybe near end of season) because I am convinced it will be fruitful. Marc Albrighton was in inspired form! Honestly over the last month he deserves an England call-up. He's been fantastic for us. Slimani back against the goals is important for the team and for him. Inspired subs. Shakespeare has rightly been criticised on here for some less than stellar choices (vs West Ham springs to mind), but he played his hand perfectly tonight. It would be hard to see us getting relegated now. I think we will lose our streak on the weekend because surely the club is planning to go big versus Atletico. We shall see! If you think Sunderland had any chance and could have won you were at a different match to me

Having watched the game again pretty much most of Gray's decisions in the final third were wrong ones. Hopefully he will take note of the master class that Albrighton provided him in the last 30 mins and learn from it. Also nice to see Mahrez having a long chat with Gray at the end of the 1st half. Looked like he was telling Gray to take the ball to the by line more instead of cutting in and shooting all the time. This is invaluable experience for him.

There was a warning when we brought Gray on. Some people at Birmingham were happy he was gone because he seemed like a prima dona. Now Gray's attitude has massively improved and is actively accepting advice and criticism. It's a great turn around to be fair.
STUHILL Posted 4 April 2017 Posted 4 April 2017 Couldn't help myself and took a look over at the Sunderland forum.. Actually found a nice post and helps me remember what an amazing journey we have been on "They just relegated us, with a sub who cost us more than our entire team, and a striker who once scored in 11 consecutive games, and we havn't scored, as a team, a single goal in 6 matches. They won the championship with over 100 points 3 years ago, performed the greatest escape ever fkin known the following year, and fck me if they didn't go and win the PL by 10 points the following year. This year they are in the Champions League quarter final, and have just won 6 on the bounce!!!!!!!!Oh HOW I wish this was us, BUT IT fckin ISN'T, so I for one, take my hat off to them, and cringe when I read some of the derogatory, posts on here directed at them."

According to http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sunderland-afc/transfers/verein/289/plus/0?saison_id=2016&pos=&detailpos=&w_s= , Sunderland spent 30 mil this year on Ndong, Djilobodji (yeah, who?) and Paddy Mcnair this year and the same last year on Lens, Khazri and Borini so that's hardly a fair comment about Slimani but the rest is great. I must admit I've never really considered what it must be like for clubs of a very similar stature to see what we've done. I can scarcely believe it myself and it makes me smile like a right goon thinking about it, but it must make other fans incredibly jealous. Can you imagine us being on our 5th manager in 3/4 seasons with a nutcase chairman whilst Derby won the league and got to a CL quarter? I fvcking can't. Well the first bit happened to us too so there's no need to imagine that, but you can you imagine watching Derby doing what we are now?
