Fans Consultative Committee Meeting

Just a few brief notes from last night’s meeting. There will be a full set of minutes published on the OS.

1) QPR match/ L1

The SAG are putting pressure on the club to do something about this section (please note, it is the SAG, not the club here), especially in light of the events during the QPR game, exacerbated by what occurred during the Leeds game. The FCC agreed that the most extreme options would not be productive, and it has also been pointed out that the stewarding and policing is too heavy-handed at times. The comment on the away fans guide for the WS has been noted and will be passed on at the next SAG meeting.

2) Pre-match and half-time entertainment

The music still isn’t whipping the crowd up as much as seen at other clubs. The feeling is (not my own) an anthem is needed, like HI Ho Silver Lining at Wolves, Annie’s Song at Sheff Utd etc. Only two of us don’t like the music being played right up until KO. We’ve both had negative feedback from other fans too, but I’m afraid to say it’s staying. We also tried getting the music when we score stopped, but again were in the minority (not that we’ve had to endure it much this season :P ).

The Birch is still around on matchdays. H e will be out at half-times, but the Club are trying different things out, this has been requested by fans who have contacted the club.

3) Future matches

There’s the Kids for a Quid game, ST offers etc. The Remembrance game is happening again this year.

The Club want to try and encourage as many fans to come to the game as possible, and have tried some of these offers, but are mindful that they don’t want to devalue ST’s in the process. The consensus among the FCC is that the gates will increase when we start getting results!

4) Megastore

Any feedback on the Megastore, particularly on matchdays would be appreciated.

5) AOB

Items mentioned included parking (The DSA would be interested in any car parking spaces available at the WS, even if it is just for one game as membership is now over 100. The Club said that they will find more spaces for them, but I think it’s worth mentioning anyway).

Exiting the ground, in particular the Kop - apparently it’s the last stand to empty. The access tunnel in the SE corner is open, so people sitting in the lower part of the stand can use, but apparently people are still going up to use the stairs and concourse to exit as the perception is this is quicker.

Kiosks - lots of complaints. Lindley has been asked to display the Supporters Hotline Number in the kiosks, which will no doubt generate even more complaints.

Blackpool game - some people have been understandably unhappy about relocating for this game. It was mentioned that there would be some ST holders unaffected who would be just as unhappy if seats weren’t reserved in their sections. Nothing concluded except that whatever the Club did, someone would be upset.

Smoking - still some problems, but the concourses were much fresher! Again heayy-handed stewarding was mentioned, and the way the stewards at Derby dealt with the situation politely was mentioned.

Phew!

:( Oh well, thanks for trying Lisa. I guess the club really doesn't care about real atmosphere in the stadium.

Good work Lisa, and thanks for attending on people's behalf.

I think your report demonstrates what an impossible and thankless task it is to get concensus from 20,000 people never mind a handful sat around a table which makes it virtualty impossible to influence decisions made by the club.

The bottom line is if the team are performing most of those issues will become less significant apart from the L1/crowd issues which needs a prompt solution but with the current SAG leadership and laws relating to watching football to contend with that is extremely unlikely.

Item for the next meeting Agenda - can you get the team to win a few games?

Apparently some sections of the ground really like it! Sweeping statement as it is. :ermm::rolleyes:

Good work Lisa.

I'm on the fence about anthems. They do seem to get the crowd going as people have said and the Jerusalem thing at the test matches was fantastic. You just know though that we'd end up with We Are The Champions or Rocking All Over The World.

Thanks for that! I hate the music up until the whistle! So Americanised!! :S:nono:

So do I .

What does that mean, What pressure are you putting on? LEAVE US ALONE eat your PRAWN SANDWICHES

All we got was a :ermm: and a  !

Isnt that the best you`ll get at city Lisa? I mean, do you really believe a paid employer will let you make big decisions? They took on your member scheme and only you look the one that failed.

Either there too stupid but to allow this, or they new they could look good by "listening", whilst they could point the finger at you for blame.

Think of something thats got concreate substance, then put that to them, and they`ll give an excuse why it "cant" be done, or they`ll say they`ve "already" thought of it...hmm

i once mentioned on this forum that a pre recorded "when your smiling" would be good, but hard as i think the last recorded version is over 50 yrs old? so we'd have to pay some commercial shitface like McFly to do it which we dont want. it could be played about 5 mins before KO and 10 mins after the final whistle so fans can leave the ground remembering the better times no matter what the result. just an idea.

Really? They said last night what a success it was. Maybe they felt like they didn't want to upset me, eh? Perhaps they were struggling to keep a straight face as they said it. Typical.

The SAG is the Safety Advisory Group. It's not prawn sarnie munchers, unfortunately. The Police have a lot of say in this group, from what I can tell.

If the prawn sandwich comment is aimed at us, then you've got the wrong people. We all agreed that a more moderate approach is needed, not heavy-handed tactics.

There's a Leicester Dreams recording, but no WYS. It has been mentioned that a modern version of WYS would be great, but it's felt it doesn't have the right 'tempo', although there is a jazzy version around, it was used on an ad recently.

What was a success, a meeting to discuss little issues, whoopee. hardly big stuff is it.

Has ANY lcfc fans forum made any REAL difference to the way in which our club is run?

I know one thing that would get the fans going is a screen that plays clips from the past...like Claridges goal in the play off final etc. Or play clips of the good times...it will get the fans going. I know its not great to dwell in the past etc but it would get me a little fired up before a game.

good idea. what is likely to be done about L1 then ..what can they do exept close it down.. i know if you get ejected from there you get a few games ban from the ground and an L1 ban for the season but what else..

well done Lisa i think an anthem would be good to have aswell but just hope the fans make it work.

Well, I know you say that things have improved but they are not even close to being acceptable.

Personally, I have now decided against using the concourse if sitting in the kop. It was just like entering a smoke-filled pub!!! (QPR game)

Not sure what will happen if I *really* need access though ... I decline all responsibility for any action I might have to take in that event :P

Have to say, I'd rather have Lisa there than you.
