This will sound pretty elitist but I'm going to put it out there anyway.

The difference of opinion on Benny isn't really an opinion. It's literally a case of whether you know the game or not.

If you don't, you can take him on face value. He doesn't do much glaringly wrong. He's good on the ball and in the tackle.

If however you know football (and I mean really know it; play it, breathe it, live it) then you see the subtlety that is his complete inability to make the correct positional decisions consistently enough to ever be regarded a first choice top flight centre half.

lollollollollollollol f*kin hell this really made me laugh. gerrrim on the coaching team

Yeah if you're aware of the needs of a centre half and can appreciate timing, spatial awareness and positioning then you'll notice that Benalouane is constantly a liability.

His physicality is his blessing. Without that he'd be in the lower leagues. He knows how to win headers and tackles. Trouble is that he's rarely in the right place to do so.

I can see why people like him because he's a very likeable player in that he'll always give 100% to the cause. But he isn't good enough I'm afraid.

One of the biggest selling points people go on about is him being "good at Passing".... he was bloody awful, worst percentages of all our centre backs. Gave it away in dangerous positions game after game but it got totally ignored.

Kitch going on about his supposed ability to bring the ball out of defence made me laugh.

What? Dribbling it 5 yards unopposed before putting it out for a throw-in?

Can't wait till he sees Maguire. He'll wet himself.

Has anything happened to make you worry so much about him?

I would imagine considering he's been injured the club want him monitored and his fitness up to scratch before he's released for any sort of international.

He missed the tail end of last season... and an international for his country weeks later

And 'released'? If its a friendly, the club are not obliged to release them, but if its a recognized FIFA competative game then i dont think the club has any say in the matter.... Unless of course they prove he is still injured...
