Just how 'Injured' Is Morgan?

Recommended Posts

I wonder if his situation will dictate if we sign another starting 11 CB?

I'd be very surprised if we just cast him aside completely... thats not usually what people do with their title-winning captain... they are often phased out..

But does anyone know how he's doing? still struggling with injury?

We need a new starting 11 CB. I think we will go to 3 at the back this season.

we have one? Maguire?

But if you are saying we need two, then why is that? Morgan Huth and Benny... if we need two starting 11s then are two of those being replaced?

I think Morgan is going to be injured long-term (at least could manage a couple of games at a time before being rested, bad backs are not to be messed with), Benny is a bomb scare, really reminds me of Bamba, he's fine as a backup.

So, we need another.

Don't know why but I told my lad at the end of last season that his injury could be career ending.

Benalouane isn't actually that bad. a bit reckless sometimes but much, much better than Bamba.

Must admit, that IS my concern....

Always looked better when he played with an actual centre back as a partner too. Easily adequate as a squad player.

OK... he isn't Bamba... but I always have my heart in my mouth when he has the ball. Probably a symptom of having watched the defence hoof it out and get rid as quickly as possible, as though the ball were a bomb. But while he seems 'comfortable on the ball' he looks a bit too dangerous for my liking, that and he seems to be a millisecond away from a booking with each tackle.

As Lovejoy says though, he is an adequate squad player. But we need another starting 11 CB.

That's a fair comment.

He's ****ing dreadful.

Had a couple of vaguely reasonable games when we were in ascendancy.

As soon as we wobbled ever so slightly he was exposed for what he is, an absolute fraud stealing a living.

I'm pretty patient with most of our signings, I'd defend the likes of Mendy and Slimani still as I don't think we've seen enough yet.

But Benny is a straight up liability.

not as bad as Bamba though?!

Honestly don't think they're that far apart.

Benny would struggle in the Championship.

Looks happy enough to me....

I think looking happy and doing some light stretches are very different to doing rigorous training and  being able to play professional football at the highest level..

It MIGHT mean everything is fine, but not necessarily

There were other shots of him looking shattered on the floor with Simmo, so i'm guessing he's taking a full part in all the running.

Also, if he's not been able to train over the summer he'd look bloody huge. But he's looking trim and in shape to me.

He's nowhere near as reckless as Bamba

I just think he's bang average, nowhere near as good as Morgan & Huth... & now Maguire

I really like Benny on a personal level and he was brilliant in the first few games he came in to the side but he's so, so reckless and over the course of the season would cost us at least 10 avoidable goals, Arsenal away last season he flew into a tackle, missed and left Sanchez and somebody else with a two-on-one against Huth, it's not an isolated incident either.

He's fine as a back up, actually I'd say he's a brilliant cover option because he seems really professional and steps up when needed but we absolutely cannot go into to the season with him potentially starting games.
