Old news now and likelynot cheap, but would pay for itself (eventually) and helps the drive to renewable generation by targeting low usage times

Getting rid of cars altogether would do a far greater job of it.

Would love to, if only for selfish reasons, as they account for around 1/3rd of our outgoings. Living in rurality though means it's not quite so straight forward as simply selling/scraping them.

Cannot see the original thread I created regarding the heat pump experience, and it does not warrant me starting a new one, but a quick update

It has been a nightmare the few weeks as it gets colder, it keeps having flow issues when calling for the central heating, hot water has been great though. lol

However, would still recommend as it seems our troubles are an outlier and we think we have paid the price for early adoption as later models have an internal pump unlike ours. Expecting a replacement soon.

Company we used have been great too, so. :dunno:

The latest episode of Rogan was an interesting listen. I can see why this guy gets called a climate change sceptic but to me he makes some valid points.

Don't particularly want to give someone like Rogan the ad revenue through clicks.

Any chance of a cliff notes version no doubt containing arguments that can be easily debunked for the benefit of those here?

I did click on it. It's Bjørn Lomborg again. Although I've always thought that he does invite some interesting possibilities and trains of though, many of his assertions are based upon cherry picked data, conjecture and opinion and I dislike his outright intellectual and scientific dishonesty.

Bizarre that you'd not want to even listen but fair enough.

You pretty much know how Bjørn Lomborg thinks as you debunked him on here before. Basically what I hear is that he believes in climate change and that we have to do something about it. But, we shouldn't throw everything at it as there are many things that need to be done in the world. I'm not the best at articulating things as you know that's why I posted the link. I found it fascinating tbh.

I'd like to know what the guy is saying because I am most interested, I just don't want to pay him for the privilege of what is tantamount to abusing his platform.

I think that what Lomberg says has at least some merit because yes, there are a great many plates spinning right now and so we have to try to deal with them all at once. However, this problem is the biggest of the lot in terms of overall impact and it simply isn't being addressed enough right now. The records of increasing temperatures and the consequences of them show this clearly.

NB. Don't worry about articulation - you put your points across in a way that is easily understood and that is all that matters. My snark is directed purely at the arguments that folks like Rogan put across, not the way that they're delivered here. Additionally, science communication needs to reach all people, and perhaps communicators might take a lesson from these popular peddlers of "sceptical" information on that.

Joe Rogan questions Bjørn all the way through, it's not a love in at all. You can't complain he's giving people a platform if they genuinely have something to say.

He had Matt Walsh on this week and I'd say 60% of the podcast they we're disagreeing on things. Certainly not what the MSM would have you think of the pair of them. Anyway it's a shame you can't spare a few hours to listen as I do value what you say, even if you think I don't.

If I find a version of the conversation elsewhere, I'll certainly listen. I just draw the line at contributing to his fortune through ad money.

Haha ok fair enough. I'd do the same with the BBC if I could, unfortunately I have to pay for content I don't trust

All the documentaries with David Attenborough narrating are worth the 13 odd quid a month, man. That's obvious. :D

He grew up in Leicester and often talks us up. That’s reason enough to think he’s more than ok!

Yeah I forget that. Maybe he should come back and do a series in our city. I park my van on Nelson Street every night and believe me there's plenty of wildlife up there, especially after dark.

Years ago I had a Ford Cortina broken into one afternoon up there whilst picking someone up from the station. They ripped out a graphic equaliser. I was only away from the car for about ten minutes.

No doubt one of many tales up there over the years. A graphic equaliser though, must of been gutting losing that.

It was in the days in which you could by them separately to the car stereo  which was basically just a cassette player and radio. I had wired it in and mounted it to the underside of the dash. They forced the window down, opened the door and ripped it out.

I actually only a few years back had my car broken into on the driveway - or more precisely, I'd left it unlocked and some opportunistic thieves got in and rifled through the contents. All that they took was some loose change and left a North Face hiking jacket on the garden rubbish bag. Amusingly, I had several CDs in the glove compartment which they'd removed from the cases, looked through...and clearly put back.
