This is quite worrying and we've just had Google issues affecting Lloyds, Revolut and others.

I'm just waiting for the day the US decides to turn off or restrict visa, MasterCard, Amex then Google and Microsoft then the AI.

That would really screw us all into submission. We have no plan in the UK for such an event. The EU are slowly working on it.

Interestingly Russia and China already have their own parallel systems up and running. Trump could really mess with the western world if he wanted to.

I mean, with AI and quantum computers, it'll be only a matter of time before the internet is fully weaponised and we have to go back to hard copy and phone calls.

Aren't phone calls nearly all on the internet now?

Speaking to people who served in Afghanistan what made it hard for them to track people was that they were not using tech but passing notes and word or mouth to communicate which couldn't be tracked.

This is the future of privacy.

big chunk of the web just ****ed by that, although it's quite funny it's dropped the same day as the TLS vulnerability, another big security threat: https://arstechnica.com/security/2026/10/the-internet-goes-on-high-alert-after-discovery-of-8-compromised-tls-certs/

It was brought forward because some idiots decided not to wait until the agreed patch release time. In fact they still didn't which meant there was 12+ hours where anyone could run the exploit and nothing was patched. Really, really poor.
