Aylestone Fox Posted 25 August 2017 Posted 25 August 2017 I'd heard a whisper a few months back (from building company) the owners had purchased the old Western Park Golf Course land, not sure how reliable the source is though
dynamark Posted 25 August 2017 Posted 25 August 2017 Western golf course closure was a definite Soulsby cock up very valuable piece of real estate..Humberstone golf course is on an old tip so no great value Just over 100 years old before it closed very decent course if it had been supported and maintained .Free beers at the 100 year days comp. One of our group was 4 under playing the last and he stuck it in the copse on the right at the top of the hill made a 6 and won the thing. Sad end many of us started playing there.
Wymsey Posted 25 August 2017 Posted 25 August 2017 Near Desford, there's quite a bit of sports land where Leicester Ivanhoe Cricket Club play (though not sure if there's any football pitches/scope to potentially build one in there?). Bigger area and could buy one of the many fields surrounding it perhaps. Another ideal location as just around 15-minute drive to the city.
dynamark Posted 25 August 2017 Posted 25 August 2017 Now that's a bit more realistic .Old Newts and Bosworthians Rugby,Ivanhoe and the Tennis club.Big level spread. These guys are no mugs and would be looking for a new location to be set up elsewhere .Similar to Westeligh rugby at Blaby who are moving for redevelopment of their old ground.
dynamark Posted 29 August 2017 Posted 29 August 2017 Just to move this thread back up. Anyone spoke to Pip yet ? I was up there at the weekend(FHGC) and I still cant see it There a couple of public footpaths plus the bridle way to disrupt things. Keep looking guys might be a finders fee for a good site
Guest Bob Hazels shorts Posted 29 August 2017 Posted 29 August 2017 On 8/25/2017 at 08:52, Bob Hazels shorts said: I don't think they would sell real estate unless a very silly offer. The club invested massive amounts in Holmes park to use that for junior games, right down to surfacing the car park as to not damage cars. Many of the players live in Stoneygate so LE2 via the Saff not a problem. Others IE Kasper travel out of town by some distance. I'd train on the Monsell if it meant avoiding the stupid lane narrowing on Lutterworth road, Ranked number 3 in Peter Soulsbys finest 1,000 cock ups Add another one to that although not moved in yet. Hope when he is eventually fit he gets the weed and feed on his front garden, the previous owner wouldn't like to see it overgrown. Italians take pride in their gardens.
notnow john Posted 30 September 2017 Posted 30 September 2017 I was told last night by an employee of one of l.c.f.cs main contractors that work is scheduled to start at Forest Hills in 12 months time. Any members heard this?
dynamark Posted 30 September 2017 Posted 30 September 2017 Don't hold your breath John -if its happening its the best kept secret for years. Up till last week when she went to uni my daughter worked there friends with the owners and family and nothing.Golf fees are due again April 1st maybe thick end of £300k due in I will do a lap of KP naked if it happens ( on a Tuesday morning) Smoke and fire
LCFC-DAN Posted 6 November 2017 Posted 6 November 2017 The YMCA own the current training ground and not LCFC..
