I have been told a few weeks ago that city had purchased forest hills golf club for a fee of @ 3mill the golf course has been up for sale for a while and its close to J22. Players don't like driving to the current training facility.

We'll if the players don't like the drive perhaps we should ask them. Then we can build a new ground and training complex to suit them.

All the state of the art facilities in the world won't produce good footballers. That's down to the talent of the players - latent or otherwise - and having coaches who are perceptive enough to get the best from them, for all their collective faults.

oooh snap!

Now I don't believe there is any truth in this what so ever but I heard that the owners have possibly sold the training ground to a housing development company.the reason I don't believe it is because the figure I was told is absolutely laughable for what the area of land this supposeded company would be getting.apparently the owners want to re locate to the countryside which is plausible but I don't understand why they would do it with all the work they have done and are still continuing to have done.has anyone else heard similar?before you all start hurling abuse at me I'm just passing on information I got told yesterday and I wanted to share it with you all to see what you all make of it.

I heard somewhere that they were building a state of the art training ground off the m1,carnt remember who or where I heard it either???

I wouldn't worry about the topography of the Land. It's amazing what an Earthmover can do in a week.

Also, a top quality pitch with drainage etc Costs between 300 to 500K to lay. So for a total outlay of 10 - 15 Million we could have a state of the art facility suitable for 50 years. They may even put in a Dormitory for all the young players to live in.

One thing it does prove is that our Owners are here for the long term which is really great to hear.

Googled them and found their website. Quite possibly the worst website I've ever seen.

Warning: it may hurt your eyes.

I love terrible 90's style websites that still exist

Check out the official Space Jam website https://www.warnerbros.com/archive/spacejam/movie/jam.htm

A nice place to play golf and eat but its best times were really in the past and feel like a change there is required.

Forest Hills best times were really in the past?

What past is that then? I first played there in 93,94 when no club house existed, it was just a porta cabin and you could join up for £200, owned by some brothers IIRC.

I know they built a club house 15 or so years ago and extended it but what's happened if it's now all gone? The course has hardly had a chance over 25 odd years.

Truth?

We need this.

Because we struggle to attract players and living in the mult-million pound houses in this area with a shirt drive to a new training ground may change that on some small basis.

Promised Land -the course opened March 23rd 1991 and didn't even have the Portakabin to start with just the old shop building and a chemical toilet .It was £250 to join and we had over 600 members at the off due to huge demand. The two partners were not brothers.

Economically it was very difficult 15% interest rates hard to reinvest in the course but we had some great times. Two different owners since then and as you would expect it has been extended and greatly improved. We used to hold the PGA Midland open every year and recently had a Sky Trilby Tour event which will be on telly.

No secret that the 'established' clubs turned their nose up at Forest Hill and its model but not any more as most of them are struggling. The core membership and organisers are a very strong group with some excellent people .Come along and enjoy in case it goes !

I'm sure there are some covenants in the deed relating to public use of the facility which might be a legal obstacle.

Still cant see it happening.

I had a look on their site last night, it seems they have altered it a bit since it first started as I'm sure the first went straight down almost parallel with the 18th.

I don't play now so I'd just be hacking and spraying it all over the place if I went for a round now lol, no change there then.

The old first is long gone buried under the driving range and thousands of loads of earth which came in as paid for tipping -good income.

Second extended and newish 3 and 4.5 is a lot longer and then the rest is pretty much as always was.Current owners have messed about with the approach to 9 and 18 which didn't really need to happen. Its a decent test without being stupid difficult.Good people though make it.

I shall be up there in an hour to pick up no 1 daughter from work .

Give it a go.

If you’re building a training ground, I’d have thought it would make sense for it to be Loughborough way.

Or maybe they’ve purchased Snibstone Gold Course near Coalville.

You think we should attract the world's elite players by driving them to facilities in Loughborough or Coalville to seal the transfer deal??

Loughborough or Coalville are not much worse than Middlesborough,,,,and they 'somehow' managed to to persuade Juninho to join them!  :)
