Sale of training ground

Now I don't believe there is any truth in this what so ever but I heard that the owners have possibly sold the training ground to a housing development company.the reason I don't believe it is because the figure I was told is absolutely laughable for what the area of land this supposeded company would be getting.apparently the owners want to re locate to the countryside which is plausible but I don't understand why they would do it with all the work they have done and are still continuing to have done.has anyone else heard similar?before you all start hurling abuse at me I'm just passing on information I got told yesterday and I wanted to share it with you all to see what you all make of it.

even having to lay the pitches again would cost a couple mill.. but if the owners are looking at a serious expansion/upgrade to a Man City style training ground it would make sense I suppose

It's the fee that makes the story so laughable because I assumed that there was money in land at the minute.and the owners don't really need money so it's not down to money.so I'm just a little bit baffled,I live behind the training ground and have a frond that works down there aswell but I'm just scratching my head abit

I've heard the owners are planning to use the current training complex for youth development only, and want to build a whole new training complex for the first team squad. Been told this by someone who works within the club, whether this has changed since he told me i don't know (I was told a couple of weeks back)

Might as well sell it to housing developers then.

That's fine but unless I've missed something what's the figure?

I was told just under 3 million which is crazy consider there was a plot for two houses near sour vallyway which went for £300,000

I'm no expert either but I thought 3m for an area of that size is a bargain.now as you say I don't know how much they would be getting for this apparent sum but you would get a good amount of houses on that plot.i was looking out my attic window this morning at the training ground and it's a decent size facility and the owners have made it look very appealing to potential new signings.as I stated in my first post this may on my but be true I was just passing on information to see what you all thought of the idea and after reading your replies it is more than plausible

All the state of the art facilities in the world won't produce good footballers. That's down to the talent of the players - latent or otherwise - and having coaches who are perceptive enough to get the best from them, for all their collective faults.

There's a new training ground in the pipeline and they are definitely moving. So the story fits.

Agreed Matt...seems very cheap, but, having listened to Justin Elliott, (don't ask lol), rip off Tony Archer, (£850k for a plot large enough to build 40 odd houses), it's maybe about par. Several of my customers are developers and housebuilding conglomerates....I'll have a cheeky e-mailing session later, see if anyone's heard anything !

Not too cheap without planning

With planning it would be worth more, in fact it seems a good price without planning... but given its location planning permission shouldn't be too much of a problem

Good deal all round, only flaw in the argument is that surely they would apply for planning themselves, they could easily afford to push that through & then sell the land, or indeed diversify into property on that site themselves

Does anyone know where the new training ground is likely to be?

It is/was a golf course.

I'm very intrigued to see if there is any truth in this hence why I created this post in the first place.it all sounds very plausible maybe keeping the training ground for the youth but my neighbors and people in the street already complain about the helicopter and digging pitches up and noise from the work going on.so building houses will really give them something to moan about.i agree it's always been poorly located.

The old now vacated Braunstone one would be big enough already very commercialised around there.
