Loughborough or Coalville are not much worse than Middlesborough,,,,and they 'somehow' managed to to persuade Juninho to join them!  :)

But did Middlesbrough have Rudkin as DOF?

I have been told a few weeks ago that city had purchased forest hills golf club for a fee of @ 3mill the golf course has been up for sale for a while and its close to J22. Players don't like driving to the current training facility.

Oh that's a shame isn't it?  At the time they start in the morning, Aylestone Road isn't too bad and very close to J21.

What the players clearly mean is " I don't like being stared at in the morning whilst i'm texting on my phone when stuck at the lights"

I meant to put a smiley after my comment, too. I hope Sly realised I was partly teasing him!

Sign of how far we have come. Instead of O' Neill trying to walk backwards with potential signings at Filbert street. We can just fly potential new signings in to training ground on helicopter.

Belvoir drive must have its good points for instance on match days having those facilities close to the stadium.Lot of investment has gone in there.

The Blaby golf course site is a fair shout I know the course is on a lease from the landowner and the green space must surely remain to separate Blaby from Niffy.

They will want somewhere very private and possibly fairly well out of town if the move is on.

Doesn't the club have good links with Loughborough University?

Think I remember the team temporarily using one of their pitches to train on a few seasons back.

Loughborough would be convenient; out-of-city, easy to get on the motorway from there etc.

Though the University may just want the pitches to be student-only and for no external companies now.

Well if they've bought a Golf Club and its not Forest Hill, it could be Market Bosworth that closed down through lack of money and has just been sold recently. I think there was planning permission in place for a club house, gym and hotel.

The old now vacated Braunstone / Western Park one would be big enough already very commercialised around there.

If no one knows which one it is this one must surely be in the running. Already closed down by Soulsby and I'm sure he'd like to keep them in the City.

Mandaric had plans to sell Belvoir Drive and hire out the Loughborough facilities to get his money back but then Vichai  and Top ride into town and saved us from his asset stripping.

It's dated to be fair in terms of where our owners want us to be. Onwards and upwards

Or it may just be that an area near to the site of the old ground will be turned into a bespoke training facility and live music venue/conference centre  to rival all other East midland facilities.

Western golf course was always going to be building/industrial land with a bit of green space left.

Market Bosworth has been sold recently but not to King Power. There are some pretty strong restrictions in the planning permission re leisure use.

Guess we are going to have to wait and see

I know the owners daughter of forest hill.... I'll ask her.

Me too. I know the course was up for sale and has been for a few years but not been told it's a sale. I wouldn't have thought it would have been sold off for anything other than golf though.

No matter how good the facilities at L'boro Uni are, using those would make us a bit 'tin-pot', so to speak.

We can afford to build a new training facility and that should be the course (pun intended) of action should our owners deem Belvoir Drive unsuitable for whatever reason.

I'd be disappointed to see Forest Hill be turned into our training ground and I don't think it's the ideal site, but I can see the benefits.

It's rural(ish), it's a pretty nice area and it's within a couple of minutes of the M1.

At a wild guess, I imagine if they were to buy part of it, the bridle way would be a fairly convenient division of land. Can't see the club wanting a public right of way through the middle of the training ground.

Very true.

I don't think the Uni would now cope with the demand as their facilities are well used. They had Nike academy (now in Burton)  there and they stretched them.

I don't think they would sell real estate unless a very silly offer.

The club invested massive amounts in Holmes park to use that for junior games, right down to surfacing the car park as to not damage cars.

Many of the players live in Stoneygate so LE2 via the Saff not a problem.

Others IE Kasper travel out of town by some distance.

I'd train on the Monsell if it meant avoiding the stupid lane narrowing on Lutterworth road, Ranked number 3 in Peter Soulsbys finest 1,000 cock ups

Don't you mean Keith Vaz?
