We've certainly lost two influential players (Kante and drinkwater). Our best players are still from the side that was promoted vardy and mahrez this shows lack of quality recruitment and no sign of moving foward. As shown with appointing Shakespeare in the summer. Don't get me wrong I think we'll be okay this season but it is worrying that our manager is happy with drawing at Huddersfield and Bournemouth. I just question our progression this season. What progression? There hasn't been any. We're stuck in reverse!!

NotTheMarketLeader Posted 11 October 2017 Posted 11 October 2017 Some are saying this is where we should be. No it is not. We won the league on merit. There is no way we should be struggling in the lower reaches of the league given our performances over an 18 month period. There are reasons for our demise; atrocious recruitment allied with selling and not replacing players. A manager unable to adjust our midfield to enable us to have more possession and therefore the ability to provide more of the ball to our attacking players is not good enough, and explains poor performances. I dont say we should be challenging top 4 but we should be around 8th and looking to improve. Being behind that level is not where we should be.
winteriscoming Posted 11 October 2017 Posted 11 October 2017 I think we should be looking at finishing 10th or above but I don't see that happening with Shakespeare in charge. His approach in games is not too lose games rather than going for the win. So I think we will have similar seasons like the ones we've had apart from the title win. It all depends how long he stays. The longer he stays the more likely we'll be bottom half.
SuperMike Posted 11 October 2017 Posted 11 October 2017 Taking the analysis back further (like about 35 years) shows an even more worrying trend. Other than those three golden years when we won the third division (they call it 'Div1' nowadays), the second division (it's now 'The Championship'), and the first division ('The Premier League') - we NEVER win a match when the weather gets a bit Nippy! Yes, we start well, and often end the season brilliantly - but November, December, January and early Feb we are total sh*te! The worry this season is we have started so badly which, when added to the likelihood of picking up just 5 or 6 points during those long, cold winter months, puts us in an impossible position! sorry, but we're DOOMED!
