Bump. Having knocked weed on the head for a while (been 4 weeks now if my maths is correct) it's gotten bloody tricky to fall asleep again.  I get proper lethargic in the evenings when it's a bit early still to drop off, but I'll get a burst of energy once it gets to around 10pm and can't sleep until well after midnight.  If I try to get an early night to compensate it seems I can only get 2-3h in before waking up around midnight with too much energy to drop off again until 3/4ish.  On my days off I'm able to catch up somewhat by sleeping up to 10h on and off until the early afternoon (sometimes with a solid couple hours activity before another solid wave of fatigue to take advantage of), but then I'm in a haze for a few hours before getting that adrenaline kick in the late evening and the cycle begins again.  Fun times.  At least I'm getting better at cross-stitch lol.

It may not be down to quitting weed, Carl, as sertraline is known to cause insomnia; assuming you take it at night, a simple answer could be to take it in the morning instead.

There is a discussion about it here.

Also, I would recommend taking a magnesium supplement an hour or so before bedtime, which is a relaxant and an effective tool against insomnia.

Hmm I'll try changing when i take it but i started taking it in evenings instead of mornings because for the first few days I was about ready to fall asleep within half an hour of taking it lol

As Buce said above, I had a period where I really struggled to sleep around last October/November time. My Mrs bought me some magnesium body lotion that you put on about half an hour before bed and I haven’t looked back since. Scented like lavender too which also helps.

A trick that often works for me if I'm struggling to get to to sleep either when going bed or if I wake up during the night, is to fix a stare at something in the room.

No matter how dark the room may be, I can make out some object to focus on and I don't allow my self to look away. What also helps with this is if I concentrate on looking at something that means I need to position my eyes so they need to look upwards towards my forehead.

This may seem counter intuitive - trying to stay awake, but I would say it quickly gets me off to sleep 7 or 8 times out of 10.

Anybody tried Kava for insomnia. My gf is suffering from insomnia but refuses to see a Dr or take medication.

You may wish to discourage her.

There have been numerous cases of liver damage and hepatitis attributed to ingesting kava.

Does anyone else feel like if it wasn't for work that they could sleep much better through a morning than through a night? (e.g getting 6/7 hours from 6am-12pm rather than 12pm/1-6/7am?)

I feel like I have a fast mind and can't stop fidgeting or thinking at night. Ends up leaving me shattered at work but I can't catch back up. God knows how anyone ever manages to have a nap! lol

A hundred million billion percent.  I'm finding myself completely shattered early evening at which point falling asleep will wake me up after 2 or 3 hours like shitty clockwork (just woke up from such an incident after dropping off at 7-ish) but if I power through the fatigue to a more suitable time a switch gets flicked and I cannot shut down for love nor money.  It's like I've been hard wired to not sleep between the hours of 2100-0400 or so. Dunno if it's relevant but I'm also finding I get much warmer at nights than I ever used to, can't wear tops in bed any more and can just about keep half a leg under the blanket.  Not that long ago I'd regulate my heat by poking a solitary foot out the end.
