Yes bud good advice and I know it is what I must concentrate on

i was just a bit “flat” with my run today, the times were slower than normal but the most irritating thing was I just didn’t feel right at all today

it will come slowly but surely and sometimes I need to listen to my body more in fairness

If you’re running in this heat you need to go easy mate, I know it’s a pain you’ve a training schedule to stick too but it is extreme weather for exercise.

Did the Leeds half last week in about 20 degree heat which was killer but I smashed my time for the great north run last september.

Potentially doing Hull half next month if I can keep my training up, hard going in this heat though!

Steady treadmill run today to keep ticking over

away in Edinburgh next week so probably only light sessions up there

Great effort mate. I need to hook you up with our kid tbh. He’s into his half marathons too.

I made it . . . . Just

Congrats! Even just finishing when it's hot like this is no mean feat, so great job mate :D

Not long got back from the Swithland 6, myself. Heat wasn't quite as bad as it was when I did the MK half a few weeks back but still not pleasant. Think I just scraped by in under 53 minutes, which was a huge shock as I was expecting closer to 57... Almost collapsed in the shade once I was done haha

Great effort bud :appl:

i got in officially at 2hrs 24 mins however I must state I was running with my wife’s friend at work who had a few issues on the run, couldn’t cope with the heat and had a wee 3/4 miles in so I would say I would of been comfortable at 2hrs 5mins if not quicker to be fair, fist 4 miles steady put me in 2hrs 3mins pace roughly but 5 minute stop waiting for Sam to queue up for a porta loo kinda killed things early doors (I’m genuinely not making excuses though)

It's your first hm, so regardless of time it's still a PB ;) if you think you could have done better, then just make sure you smash that time next time around ;)

It is my first half marathon for 30 years (I’m not even jesting) so kind of yes

genuinely in all the training I have done I am 8.30 to 9 minute mile pace generally and Sam who I was with has been 9.30 to 10 minute mile pace generally on her training

I needed to support Sam as she hadn’t done a half marathon at all before so I waited with her every time she walked instead of running etc (and the wee stop etc) as she suffers with lots of issues and almost died 2 years ago I don’t think she or my wife would of been impress if I had raced off leaving her to it so all in all I am happy but I know I could of done much better? I think? Genuinely I am not moaning though

i am grateful at 47 and quite unfit just to have managed it

Well done @Bob Weasel Fox, good effort mate, have you got the bug or are you retiring a champ?

Got the bug i think, will probably look to do the Notts and Leicester 10k in August and September (well Work permitting etc) and more half marathons again soon also. The wife is trying to persuade me to do a marathon (only as I have a half decent pension me thinks lol ) but I will see on that score later
