Jamie Vardy could be set to lead out Leicester City as captain for the second time at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

The England striker wore the captain’s armband in the absence of regular skipper Wes Morgan and vice-captain Kasper Schmeichel in the goalless draw against Southampton and Puel said he would have no qualms about asking Vardy to repeat the role at Crystal Palace.

Schmeichel will again be missing with an ankle injury, while Morgan was left out of the starting eleven against Southampton and could again be amongst the substitutes against Roy Hodgson’s side as Puel continues to assess all his options for next season in the final four games.

Andy King has usually been the third in line to be captain at the club but he is now out on loan at Swansea City.

Puel said Vardy had been honoured to lead City against the Saints and the City boss said he had all the attributes to be a strong captain.

“I think different players can make captain depending on the game,” said Puel.

“When Wes isn't on the pitch it will be Kasper other times Jamie.

“It was Jamie for the first time. He was happy before the game to be captain. I think it is important for me because he is a good captain.

“He showed his energy and his quality. He can score and give a good feeling and good way to his team-mates.

“He can be a good captain, also when Wes or Kasper are not here.”

....and yet you to choose to to stop him being himself on the pitch. Curtailing his runs upfront. and generally prevents him from doing what he does best, setting the tempo for the team.

Can you not see how it’s possible to be grateful for someone or something, but also to recognize that moving past that person or thing is best in the long run?

....it was the way the post was worded, not the sentiment!
