Leicester finally make a case for the Maguire-less defence

Benkovic-Evans-Soyuncu (if 3atb) with the likes of Amartey, Hughes etc as cover would be talented but inexperienced, but I think we'd cope with that. Perhaps a bit of investment on a more experienced head (similar to the Evans transfer).

 

If we can cash in on Maguire for a decent sum I wouldn't be too distraught to see him go. Fantastic player at times, but he's really not shown it for us this season.

If you had made that comment last season I'd have said you were totally wrong and we should be looking to build the squad around him, but since the Man Ure thing in pre season he's looked a completely different player from last season.

 

For all the stick Morgan gets on here, we were far more solid when it was Evans & Morgan.

When you have a centre back who thinks he can play as a quarterback, dictating play and forward moves invariably you get defensive problems.

 

A simple pass to a middle of the pitch Tielemans should suffice. He should be the one pulling the strings further up the pitch not Maguire.

Maybe he is sick of the pedestrian midfield passing it sideways that he feels that he has to start an attack.

It will be interesting to see if his current performances improve over the remainder of the remainder of the season. I think they will probably will.

On his current form, we can manage without him given Benkovic is with us next season. However, I wonder what his value is now? Considerably less than shortly after the World Cup - which makes it less likely we will sell unless he makes clear he wants to leave which I think unlikely for at least 12 months.

PS I estimate his value at £30-40million max

Absolutely right,  I think our goals against tally was pretty good or even better without him. Unfortunately I think his England exploits went to his head and he's now a Billy Big Bollo cks that thinks he's Reo Ferdinand  ... he isn't even close. I feel he's just using us for his next move. His slow cumbersome forays forward hopefully trying to show him in the light of the modern ball playing cb. Good ones when they or others lose the ball bust a gut to get back and assist the defence,  he doesn't and plays us into trouble. If we can get a good fee, his heads turned, get rid.
