VIKTOR-LE5 Posted 3 March 2019 Posted 3 March 2019 We have far to many players at the back who are error prone from Schmichel, Maguire, Ricardo, Chilwell to Morgan, one of these plums always has a mistake in them every game.

Md9 Posted 3 March 2019 Posted 3 March 2019 He didn’t look like he was enjoying being on the pitch today passing was poor also.

He doesn’t distribute quickly to Chilwell. He invariably runs towards Chilwell closing down his space and losing momentum. Failing that, he tries the spectacular Hollywood ball that invariably goes out or to the opposition. He is slow to react. Look at the fiasco this afternoon against Watford.

I suspect that the link up with Chilwell has been spotted by the opposition who now make sure it’s not so easy ....... that post was three months ago!
Guest Col city fan Posted 3 March 2019 Posted 3 March 2019 I’ve always supported Maguire but he looks either knackered or disinterested or, I’m afraid, both I don’t think his heart is here anymore tbh Big offer in the summer and he goes.
foxinsocks Posted 3 March 2019 Posted 3 March 2019 Harry sounded very positive about BR in his beeb interview after the brighton game.... may be his agent has had a word... how to dig a tunnel

Thats a good thing? I'd take 50m ish for an overrated defender.
TonyN11 Posted 3 March 2019 Posted 3 March 2019 I have to agree with the comments here. At half time, discussing which of the 3 centre backs should go off to accommodate another midfield or forward player, there was no way Morgan or Evans should have made way. And watching 'the Kaiser' Harry move (too slowly) forward from the back and trying to pick a pass (too late) in the wind and rain .......ugh... still it's only football
splinterdream Posted 3 March 2019 Posted 3 March 2019 Not getting the negativity to Maguire, an excellent ball playing defender that moves forward with the ball to allow the team to move up, to suggest Morgan should stayed on instead of Maguire I can't understand tbh but football is a matter of opinion. If he's not as keen as he once was, maybe it's because there's very little to play for, not saying it's right but it happens, and maybe he is expecting to move in the summer.
Lcfc-1992 Posted 3 March 2019 Posted 3 March 2019 50+ million plus and I’d accept. Other than an a few runs out of defence that result in nothing, I think we could cope without him.
VLC86 Posted 3 March 2019 Posted 3 March 2019 His danger awareness is disturbingly bad for a centre back. As soon as Kasper does his usual gift it to the attacker routine he needs to close the gap in front of the goal but instead he pottered back and saw the danger far too late. I’ve said it before but everyone else gets abuse in our defence other than him yet he is probably the most culpable. Either Rodgers improves him or I would happily accept a decent bid for him in the summer.

You could time his 100m dash with a sundial.
jon1bc Posted 3 March 2019 Posted 3 March 2019 Problem is our defence get a high proportion of the possession because the midfield don't have the confidence to go forward. They play it back time after time and it's inevitable that they're going to make mistakes with this constant pressure.
Farrington fox Posted 3 March 2019 Posted 3 March 2019 Lets hope Benkovic “excuse spelling, has more about him!
shailen Posted 3 March 2019 Posted 3 March 2019 I think we have to expect more errors unless we can get the current squad to play out from the back. I saw a lot of that today but I don't think our players were comfortable doing that yet. Maguire is our best ball playing midfielder but even he has errors in him.
Heymister2015 Posted 3 March 2019 Posted 3 March 2019 Definitely sell in the summer! Massively overated and we can get a good fee for him! Its all about Benkovic
dyanmark Posted 3 March 2019 Posted 3 March 2019 Fair comment from Col .Maguire doesn't look at all happy or comfortable.Evans is a centre back and gets on with it Harry doesn't seem sure.what . he wants to be .I am on record as never convinced and for me a good offer and off he goes wit thanks. Our old boys did well again Mahrez Knocky and Jeff seems to have found some serious form with Woy
Gubbins Posted 3 March 2019 Posted 3 March 2019 When it comes to actual defending he really is no better than an over the hill Morgan. A mid/bottom half PL centre back all be it one capable of the odd successful charge forward with the ball. I don't at this point even seeing us selling him as he's been so poor all season that I don't see a big club moving for him. I'd be fine with soyuncu replacing him for a few games tbh
Wymsey Posted 3 March 2019 Posted 3 March 2019 Have been disappointed with Maguire recently. Around most of his passes have gone to the opposition or out for a throw-in and can spend too much time with the ball in dangerous areas. Think his confidence has been hit somewhat for some reason.
Dahnsouff Posted 4 March 2019 Posted 4 March 2019 Agree that Harry looks "off" recently. Would say Evans is our best defender currently.
Haywood_6 Posted 4 March 2019 Posted 4 March 2019 Maguire needs to have long hard look in the mirror. Gave away the free kick which led to the goal, kicked it out of play on numerous occasions, gets himself out of position by running up the pitch needlessly then then can't get back. He frustrates me
Babylon Posted 4 March 2019 Posted 4 March 2019 Maguire's best spell seemed to be (presumably at Puels request) to stop trying to take on the opposition, stop over playing and keep it simple. There was a spell where he just seemed to be a defender without all the onus on him to wander out and start attacks. For me when he starts doing that it puts our back line into disarray.

When you have a centre back who thinks he can play as a quarterback, dictating play and forward moves invariably you get defensive problems. A simple pass to a middle of the pitch Tielemans should suffice. He should be the one pulling the strings further up the pitch not Maguire.
