petersmith1942 Posted 1 April 2019 Posted 1 April 2019 I live away nowadays but have supported City for over 60 years and I still look for their results first and follow the team via tv etc I am delighted with the new manager and with the amazing Wes Morgan. One thing that bugs me though is I think the club paid out £30 million last summer on centre backs, one of which I think went on loan ,maybe Celtic? The other played once? but had language difficulties? I think to compete top 6 we need another quality centre back to support Harry and Jonny and stop those sloppy early goals against. What has really happened to all that spending?

shailen Posted 1 April 2019 Posted 1 April 2019 They are both young and will develop and with our lack in depth of centre backs it was vital to sign players to cover that position.
Stadt Posted 2 April 2019 Posted 2 April 2019 It was fairly intelligent business from the club getting them in before it was obvious we needed more centre backs further down the line. Less intelligent sending the centreback that can speak English out on loan and keeping the one that can't, though.
mozartfox Posted 2 April 2019 Posted 2 April 2019 Benkovic will not be held back by Wes or anybody else, because Rodgers rates him and stated publicly whilst at Celtic that he (Benko) was ready for the EPL. I am confident that 'Dragovic II' will not be repeated under this regime. . So what look odd signings now, will look odd in a few months time. Be patient.
HighPeakFox Posted 2 April 2019 Posted 2 April 2019 I find the Dragovic parallel odd, as he was never a player we committed to owning.

I am not a fan of everything our recruitment team has done since summer 2016, but this thread is nothing to do with Musa. Start another thread on Musa and I am sure there will be many posts answering your question.

He's hardly going to improve his English and cultural understanding in France or Turkey. Those decisions however would have been made by a professional team of staff aware of all his circumstances, playing, psychologically, language and otherwise and not thankfully by the likes of us who know bugger all about him other than a suggestion that his language skills are a bit lacking.

Because he wasn't as good as Wes. He was steady but his career since he left has hardly hit the heights that some seem to think he was capable of.

I was joking mate, because I thought your sentence would have made more sense if you said 'won't look odd in a few months'

petersmith1942 Posted 3 April 2019 Author Posted 3 April 2019 thanks, seems they are both still with us and could prove valuable into the future. That's all I really wanted to know On the Harry comment first off, I hope its not a done deal but Harry is a very heavy guy and slow when passed. I have my doubts about him long term but hope I am wrong if he stays but not if he goes
